The red dyed food they were eating was pistachio nuts. They used to coat them in a red powder or dye for some reason before some people started having an allergic reaction to it I believe.

The reason they were dyed was that the method used for harvesting would leave blotches on the shells. So it was just for the appearance. When improved harvesting methods started being used, they no longer dyed the shells.

The Naked Gun is a classic slapstick comedy! It has a really good mixture of humor. Even if one scene didn't make you laugh, another scene definitely would. It may be a clique to say these days, but movies like this really don't get made anymore. Oh man Mr. Bean! I have not seen that movie in a long time. That would be a good reaction.

The title Naked Gun is a throw back to a fifties soap opera slash crime drama called The Naked City. The use of the word naked doesn’t refer to actual nudity it implies that nothing is hidden. In the case of the show The Naked City it meant that all the things that usual go unseen in the daily lives of people are in view,but for the movie it’s a play the idea of a gun in sight or being seen. This is parody of classic crime movies and shows from the past.

The whole beginning of the film is what was being parody in the first episode of Season 4 of Family Guy when Stewie beats up Osama Bin Laden and then has him in a first person persepective riding the tricycle. All of those at the beginning were parodies of real enemies of America like Putin. Leslie Nielsen was a serious actor for a majority of his career until Airplane when he was the straight face doctor and this was his first comedic role.

Timothee, if you like Airplane and The Naked Gun then you should watch the "Johnny English" trilogy movies. Rowan Atkinson is very funny in those! His humor in those movies are similar to his Mr. Bean character. It's like if Mr. Bean were pretending to be James Bond. But please finish the Naked Gun trilogy because Leslie Nielsen is very funny as Frank Drebin!

The TV series this was based on only lasted 6 episodes. The network just didn't get the humor. If you can find them they are worth watching. Similar humor as in the movies but more concentrated. There are also some great running gags, some of which were continued in the movies but are funnier if you've seen the 6 episodes.

I grew up with mr beans vacation, and loved the movie where Mr Bean works in a museum and they transfer him to America and he live with the family of a man who works at the US museum.
