I agree, Rothfuss' writing is just magical! and I think most people don't really like Denna :D I can't believe it's already been 5 years since book 2 came out and when I read it a few years ago I was hoping it would come soon (I think it had a expected publication year of 2016 back then) but now he has stated that it might take a few years more, apparently he already has a book written but he doesn't want to publish it because it's not good enough I guess :D

A World Hopper yes I heard something like that too. Which is fair enough but I feel the longer he delays the higher the expectations will be 😂 I only read these this year not sure why. Just didn't hear about it until one of my friends recommended it to me. I love it so much. I cannot wait to read the last one. But then it will be over. 😓 and that will be heart breaking. Never happy haha

The Name of the Wind is one of my all-time favorite books!! The only tragedy is that we've been waiting SOOOOO LONG for the third book!! I first read the series back in 2011, and back then the final book was supposed to come out in early 2014.... WELL WE'RE A LITTLE BIT PAST THAT!! Someday.... I love Kvothe, how he's ALMOST perfect--so talented at so many things--but he's such a little dork when it comes to relationships.

Possibly Literate I knoooooooow! I actually started under the impression that all 3 books were out already and only learnt they weren't after I finished the second one. Imagine the sadness. I cursed a lot 😂 maybe it will be sooner than we expect? 🙈

I'm so happy you made a video about these books!! you're so right people don't talk about these enough! It took me a while to get into the first book too. that homeless part, man. I like Devi more than Denna too 🙊 I'm so in love with all these characters tho

I agree! I wasn't sure if it was me just being late to the party (it's not a new book after all) or if people don't talk about it! They should, it's so mind blown. such a good, solid fantasy. The world is believable and feels so real. I know, I was thinking of who can be my favourite characters and they just all are so unique and play their parts in the story so well it's hard to seperate them! :D

I didn't read them until this year too so I don't know if it's just that we joined late :) yes! I love the world he's created and the magic system is so interesting. I also love how he writes about music. its beautiful. All the characters are so interesting, but I do have a special place in my heart for Sim. He's a cinnamon role :) And Kvothe obviously because he always gets into trouble and it cracks me up x)

True, I don't know many male characters in books that love music so much (yet hate poetry hah) I knoooow, Sim is so pure, bless him. I like Will too, I bloody like everyone from these books. :D

his hate for poetry lol. yes I love Wil too :) whenever Sim cries it makes me laugh so hard like when kvothe played music for them for the first time and Sim couldn't stop crying. it's just so adorable

I absolutely love the name of the wind. It is by far my favourite fantasy novel of all time. I also loved the wise man's fear (obviously) and the slow regard of silent things was great. I recommend this book to everyone.

Same, I keep pushing people to read it but some don't really want to because the size is intimidating. But in all honesty it didn't even feel long, did it! I can't wait for the third one, if that ever comes out haha. I still haven't read the Slow Regards of Silent things. I tried starting it at some point but just didn't flow hah

I honestly can't wait until the doors of stone comes out! I understand what you mean about the slow regard of silent things not exactly flowing, I felt the same way for a bit.

I loved Name of the Wind! I did not know anyone else on here read that book. I think I put it in my Peculiar Book tag haha I have not read the second one though so I skipped your book talk. I'll come back after I finished it. I love hardcore fantasy. :)

Game of Thrones put me in the longest book slump of my life! Mostly because I enjoyed them too much. I just read the Name of the Wind and thought it was a great recommendation if people like Game of Thrones but don't want the billion characters that come with it!
@BookRoast
@BookRoast 7 жыл бұрын
VERY true. I had my problems with Game of Thrones, but I can never say I didn't like it. I have mixed feelings, clearly hah, about it. I think it was the multiple perspectives that GoT is written from that annoyed me, whilst the Name of The Wind is always following Kvothe. Just a personal preference :)

I think that it was average. While Patrick's writing is exceptionally crisp, his story is not very original, and the characters are kind of flat. I can think of multiple books (or series) that are much better than this.
@daphnepebb3351

which series are better?
@LocoDirewolf
@LocoDirewolf 5 жыл бұрын
It's all subjective, everyone has different opinions. Right off the top of my head, I would say that the Farseer trilogy, the Memory, Sorrow and Thorn trilogy, the Gentlemen Bastard Sequence, the Riftwar Saga, and the First Law trilogy are better, IMO. I'm not knocking Rothfuss' work, I just find it average.
