The thing I remember most from B5 when it aired and JMS would actually hold discussions with the fans was that Narn ships were always far more 'advanced' looking than they actually were. None of the Narn ships had artificial gravity, even the largest cruisers, so people were always strapped in. The ships were slow because their ship engines were inefficient and the weapons were limited because the power systems couldn't handle the loads.

Every species in B5 universe had homeworlds with gravity. Thats what the crews are more comfortable with. Mimbari and Centauri are the only ones who have it. @@Meatisfood I think the lore is that the Earth was pretty close to producing it and the next generation of ships was design to have AG when it was perfected. If you saw the opening of the Lost Tales even though Earth's Warlocks took out some Vorchans with ease , some Warlocks were destroyed or damaged as well. The Narn like the Centauri were considered a dying race. Their hate led them to ruin, they focused on revenge instead on actually growing as a people this is something G'Kar realized. I should also point out that the Bin'Tak is an odd design lore wise. It was built before the Narn-Centauri war, but only just. Only two of the eight built survived the war in bad shape. They were refitted AFTER the ISA was formed and thus incorporated a lot of newer tech. The newer version has gravimetric drives and 3/5 Narn gravity on board. It's also much more heavily armed than the version shown in this video. Weapons on the newer and more modern versions are as follows "2 Ultra-Heavy Particle Lasers, 12 Heavy Particle Lasers, 2 Energy Mine Launcher, 60 Plasma Pulse Cannons (point defence)" Those two main guns are said to each have the same yield as the Earth G.O.D. defence grid platforms. Thus each could take out the entire eastern seaboard of the USA in one shot. The 12 particle lasers are the same type as the main guns on G-Quan class, though it's likely those have improved since they joined the ISA as well.

It seems like the Narn have almost completely built their economy around their military and ship construction. And that's the reason why they were able to build such a large space fleet in a short time span. However, the Narn sacrificed other parts of their society and economy to do it. The Narn went "all in" on Military construction. Meanwhile the other races have a more robust and diverse economies. The Centauri, the Earth Force, etc all have adaptable economies. Not everything is dedicated to military construction. So there is room in reserve if they need to adapt. Meanwhile The Narn military may seem fierce, but they are extremely weak in other areas of their society. For example, I would say their agriculture, and medical technology is probably severely lacking compared to other races. And if their military is defeated, they don't have much else economically to rely on.

I was rewatching and realized something. In one episode Londo was comenting on how there was a famine in the narn homeworld to Gkar. Gkar retorted that it was because the Centauri strip mined resources from them Londo hit back that it was because Narn focused on the Narn war machine. This was in the same season as the Narn invasion of Ragesh 3 a Centauri agricultural colony. So Narn invaded a farming world but they still had a famine.

During the show i almost felt sympathy for the narns but they were just as bad as the centauri. I really like the storyarc their race went through. I hope we get to see some of these ships in the new show and that the Narns are shown as fierce and badass as they deserve!
@huntergratzner13 жыл бұрын
I kinda felt more bad for the Narn because they were enslaved and brutalized, while the Centauri had a history of genocide going back to pre-space flight days. Remember what the last Xon said.

@@huntergratzner1 AAARGH! or something like that haha! But yeah the Narn got dealt a bad hand but they were turning out just as brutal as the Centauri. If the shadows didnt screw the Narns over it would have been the Narn doing the enslavement and brutalizing.

There's no way a Narn ship only 200 meters in length has a jump engine. Not a chance.

a 200m ship with jump engines? the white stars are bigger and are canonically the smallest ship build with its own jump engines...

That information is from B5 Wars and is not considered canon by most. They licenced the IP to create a tabletop wargame and as such had odd new designs and things that did not fit canon because of their rule requirements.
