The Nashville Predators made some big moves in free agency this offseason as GM Barry Trotz landed Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault while re-signing goalie Juuse Saros.

Nobody wants to talk about Michael McLeod for obvious reasons but that was a big loss for the Devils. Trey did a good job of recapping the off season.

I’ve wondered if the league had done their own investigation and let teams know they thought the likelihood of prosecution was low. Teams like the Devils proceeded based on that “gut feel” which turned out to be wrong. Losing McLeod created a huge hole in the roster, doubtful the team wouldn’t have had some type of plan B unless they didn’t think they needed to. Additionally, EVERYONE including the NHL went radio silent so quickly after the indictments - like lots of people within the league could look bad if people started digging.
