Hogan: "I asked the men to explode the T's, and make more of a percussive sound" (paraphrased, of course) Chorus: "Joshua fit the baddle, the baddle of jericho!"

My choir director said the same thing lol

i love how you can see the audience smiling throughout this performance. i feel like most people watch choirs with a somewhat serious expression, but there's an infectious happiness here

I enjoy this choir. I was honored to sing the with Moses' choir in Covington, LA a few years before his death. He was a beautiful, gentle genius.

Moses is a genius. I love how the section have their own important parts while the rest create a "conflict" as moses put it with makes this piece go together really well. It also creates the energy needed to have a stronger effect on the important parts. (Think battle drums for the backup, the battle horn as the important part.)

My all time favourite Negro Spirtual... Thanks Moses Hogan for this wonderful arrangement. I'm crying at the end of the piece. The Power of the Lord is really undeniable... The Battle is in My Hand!!!
@thricemarked48315 жыл бұрын
There is so much of the right kind of energy in this performance. It is a shame that they were missing the "baTTle articulation that the composer wanted. It would have been so effective from this group.
@saalikjazz7 жыл бұрын
This one of the best performances of Hogan's arrangements that I heard. I love how the men kept that sixteenth note going. We call that the "sugar daddy' in funk music. And the conductor really got into it.

Geeez!!! this song gave me mad goosebumps!!!! I can't even begin to imagine how incredibly amazing this must have sounded live.

If genius is defined as someone who establishes a precedent that will be and artistic appreciated and recognized into the future, than Moses Hogan fits the bill.
@CalledByGod61510 жыл бұрын
that ending was great! I didn't hear the hard "T" that Moses wanted though but it still sounded great!
@michelcouzijn58627 жыл бұрын
When Moses demonstrated that, he accented the b's rather than the t's. I think he was mistaken when he said 't'. The 'b' makes more sense, musically (or rhetorically if you will).
@binomo53345 жыл бұрын
If this song have a hard T , it means God didn't wanna hear the song?

Brilliant arrangement, pure talent from Moses Hogan. I’ve listened to many choirs sing it and I think the _BYU Singers_ have the best performance and recording of this arrangement (in their album of spirituals _I Believe this is Jesus_ ). It’s just masterful.

Prepping for my second concert featuring this piece, and DANG. I love singing it SO MUCH. It's genuinely challenging, both in notes and in style, but the challenge pays off in an absolute roller coaster. I would sing this all day every day. Thank you, Moses Hogan!

In 2016 the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square took this piece on tour in Europe. I believe we worked harder on this than any other song in that program. It was absolutely electric each time we performed it, and was one of my best memories of the tour.

This song makes the hair on my arms stand up! Especially this choir singing it. No one is nasal no one is hitting wrong notes. no one in the audience is coughing. no one has a crying baby in the audience, this place they sung in had GREAT reverb. There is alot more good qualitys to this performance than bad so STOP hating!! (I'll find you JK ;P)
