"There is an elephant in Manzhouli; it sits there all day long. Perhaps some people keep stabbing it with forks. Or maybe it just enjoys sitting there. I don't know". --------------------- Dear Friends, I'm deeply sorry I couldn't be at this screening with you and my "student", my friend, my nearest and dearest. I'm writing this message from the same hotel where I met him... Hundreds of Chinese filmmakers applied to work with me, but when I met him, I knew this was it. Without any doubt! He was full of dignity and amazing to work with. His eyes showed an uncommonly strong personality. Anyway, I don't want to talk about my feelings. I just wanted to tell you that I met a person with a broad vision of the world. During our last meeting in Wuhan he showed me his cast and locations and gave me his book. He wrote a dedication: "to my godfather". Shit! I feel guilty I couldn't protect him properly. It's a shame. But how can one protect a person constantly surrounded by a storm? He wrote books, scripts, plays… Horrible… Without end... While working, however, he was very sensible and kind. He listened to everybody and paid attention to detail. He was constantly in a rush. Maybe he knew he didn't have much time. He burned his candle at both ends. He wanted to have everything right now. He couldn't accept the world and the world couldn't accept him. Though we lost him, his movies will be with us forever. Please welcome Hu Bo's film and love him like I do, Béla Tarr

eu também perdi pessoas que amo muito, é irrecuperável. algumas musicas nos ajudam justamente por compartilhar isso em vez de dizer: tudo passa, você vai superar. pode ter como sobreviver, não como superar.

I think that the song is a bit brighter than the film I really love your "long days long day's journey into night" and "Paris, Texas" videos, which I randomly saw in recommendations, I haven't seen these films before and I thought "wow, I need to watch it, I need to feel it" and then I watched these films, it was wonderfull, you perfectly hit into my feelings of song and film, but now there's something wrong It's still good, but I felt despair, guilt, pain while watching film, and in my opinion song is brighter I like elephant and maybe I wanted to feel joy of perfect combination like in Paris, Texas, but it didn't work for me Anyways I want to say thank you for your work, I glad that with your channel I can find new great unwatched films

Thank you. Honestly more than the movie itself what really striked me is the the tragic story of the director, which made me think about using this song. I've been lucky enough to see them play it live in my little city and it stucked into my head. The lyric "Sorrow it's in my honey, it's in my milk" to me depict perfectly the whole thing.

Most of Elephant is definitely dour, but the ending was the most emotionally charged and happy that I think a movie has ever left me. Almost cried tears of joy. One of my favorite movies.

Penso che sia il miglior film del 2018, che dici?
@Clarencito4 жыл бұрын
Non so se effettivamente sia il migliore, dovrei fare mente locale: ci sono stati anche "Burning", "Ash Is Purest White", "The House that Jack Built", "The Man Who Killed Don Quixote"... Sicuramente se la gioca, e ha un finale fra i più belli che abbia mai visto, da brividi.

Is it spoiler-free ? I have not seen the film yet :(

Well, there isn't much story to spoil. It's more about the emotions. Anyway i'll say that it's always better of you saw the movie first... But again, maybe this video will make you wanna watch it 😅
