Lol, this guy is so full of shit its laughable. He contradicts himself with all that bugel oil about the awareness only knowing itself. Perception is not subjective as he claims. Perception is quantitatively OBJECTIVE and only qualitatively SUBJECTIVE. Our awareness never touches the objective world? Really? Consider a square and a circle. To be aware of each is to know unequivocally that the one is not and cannot ever be the other. That is quantitative. Perception/awareness cannot mistake each for the other. That is knowing or touching that which is outside itself. So too with our perception of the mouse and the tree, unequivocally we know the difference between the two no matter the circumstances or conditions. The subjective aspect of perception is that i might find the tree beautiful while you might find it ugly, but that it is a tree and not a mouse is an objective, unequivocal understating of our awarenesses. This guy is typical of philosophers, mucking up the mud in the bottom of the pond to try to sound enlightened and important. He's no better than a high school student in philosophy class or a first year college student. I've been listing to drivel like this for decades. What a meat head.

pure awareness is an expression of pure silence, this can not be understood it must be experienced,. what one finds is that self realization happens when the mind's activity ceases. only in the innocent silence of being can one see. the techniques of meditation cause mental activity to slow down and eventually cease while yet remaining dynamic and focused. this is also apparent in rupert's talks where his words are surrounded by silence. a beautiful teaching a beautiful talk

Everything Rupert says is brilliantly expressed, indeed dramatically expressed. It is a perfect analysis of the situation we find ourselves in. But why do I find myself feeling so uncomfortable listening to it, why do I feel even a little bit cheated by it? I think the answer is that we have someone very intellectually capable here, even someone who has had *some* insight into what this is all about but really doesn't know it. I've been lucky enough to meet some great sages over the last 40 years, many of whom have had little command of the English language and who have been relatively poor intellectually (some not so), but they were all able to somehow transmit that which they had truly found in their hearts, the very essence from which they lived. Here, I get no such feeling; clever words, clever concepts but somehow the true knowing is missing. But who am I to say - might be completely wrong!

Are you aware? I think this is a wrongly worded question It makes it sound as if the awareness is a quality you posses like are you hot, are you cold, are you fat, are you short. If awareness is to be considered a quality that you posses then who are you - the body? In that case, this question images the same basic error that many others make. I think a better question is: Are you awareness? What (if any) is the difference between you and awareness? Are you life? (Not are you alive - life is not something you possess - body is something that might possess, might be aware of) What (if any) is the difference between you and life?

I would like to offer the following to all who care to read it with patience, - the focus is on the difference between immortal Mind/consciousness and mortal mind/consciousness (also referred to in the Bible as the carnal mind). I'm not a religionist; I am a spiritual Scientist although I may use biblical phrases from time to time. The carnal/mortal mind needs to be defined before we begin. The carnal mind and the corporeal senses combine as one, not two. It is the level of false awareness which perceives an erroneous universe, - an erroneous universe of people; of organic birth, maturity and death; of sickness; of finite material objects as well as self-destructive negative qualities such as human will power; depravity, ego or small "i", revenge, insecurity; pride, fear, hatred, etc. etc. Most importantly, the carnal mind and its emanations have no real existence just like the images in our night dreams have no real existence. Mortal mind is the suppositional absence of immortal Mind. Mortal consciousness is the suppositional absence of immortal consciousness. Mortal mind and immortal Mind never mix nor mingle. They are diametrically opposed to each other in the same fashion as light and darkness. With the above in mind, I offer the following information to ponder deeply: When we dream at night, most people believe we are in a body which can see, feel, smell, taste and touch that which appears to be solid objects in space/time. But obviously, we know we were never in the "dream body/brain." It was the carnal mind which created the belief of the "dream body/brain." But when we are "awake", most people definitely without a doubt believe we exist or live in a "real" body and mind is in the brain. Why do most people believe this is 100% true beyond any doubt? This may be why: 1. Our night dream is an individual experience which doesn't last long and from night to night, there is no continuity. But our "awake" state is a collective experience shared by other people which appears to have some kind of continuity from day to day making us believe it must be real compared to the night dream experience. 2. From the time of so-called human birth, we were educated to believe mind was in the body/brain by other people who also believed mind was in the body/brain and consequently, this belief has been handed down for thousands and thousands of years. It's a form of hereditary hypnosis! 3. The prevailing scientific theory is that the matter universe came first and eventually, inanimate matter on this planet somehow became animate matter in the form of single living cells and evolved into conscious beings. This theory/belief/solid conviction of matter evolving mind is so deeply-rooted in human consciousness that most of mankind automatically believes it to be 100% true beyond a shadow of a doubt. Based on #3, the prevailing thought in the scientific community is that mind/consciousness must be in the brain. After all, if you hit someone on the head with a lead pipe, they appear to lose consciousness. If you give them an anesthetic, they appear to lose consciousness. If you kill them, they appear to lose consciousness. Generally speaking, this belief causes the physicists, philosophers and medical community (I have deep respect for all) to spend a lot of time and energy trying to discover how the brain creates consciousness. So far, they have failed miserably. They really have no clue. That's why they call it the "hard problem." They are so stuck on this deep-rooted belief that mind is in the body/brain, - they are in complete bondage to this age old model of thinking. They may have determined there are correlations between mind and brain; but that doesn't mean brain produces mind/consciousness anymore than believing the visible image on the TV screen is producing the invisible broadcast signals originating outside the TV set. The other day, I saw clearer than ever before and it hit me like a ton of bricks, - mind is not in the body/brain or in anything at all. Just as the carnal mind is not in the "dream body/brain" -- the carnal mind is not in the "awake body/brain" either. The finite, material universe of want and woe which we perceive via the carnal mind/corporeal senses (recall the above definition) is in the carnal mind; a product and projection of the carnal mind similar to how a movie is projected onto a screen but is actually coming from inside the movie projector. If the movie projector was shut off, the image on the screen would naturally disappear. But the carnal mind and everything produced by the carnal mind is a mirage, including itself. There is no truth in the carnal mind. It is a liar and the father (i.e. origin or source) of the lie. If it is true that Mind is not in the body/brain, what does this tell us? It means it must have come before matter and not after matter as the theory of evolution claims. If Mind came before matter, then matter could not have created Mind. If matter didn't create Mind, then Mind must be self-existent, self-sustaining and self-perpetuating. Since the carnal mind is a mirage and a liar, it has no real existence. The only thing that could possibly be left is the self-existent, self-sustaining and self-perpetuating divine Mind. This Mind must be timeless and space-less; it has no awareness of corporeality, pride, evil, greed, sorrow, insecurity, fear, revenge, hatred, etc.; it only knows its own incorporeal and infinite ideas of itself; it is pure and perfect, - uncontaminated by the erroneous beliefs of a finite, material universe of sin, sickness and death. All the erroneous beliefs of the carnal mind are simply unknown and non-existent to the level of divine consciousness symbolized by divine Mind. Unlike the analogy of the movie projector in which the carnal mind can be shut off, the divine Mind and its incorporeal, eternal images of itself can never be shut off. No matter what seems to happen within the realm of the so-called carnal mind, it is impossible for it to affect divine Mind in any way, shape or form! Divine Mind is impenetrable to anything which opposes its own nature. When consciousness reflects absolute Truth (i.e. divine Mind), the carnal mind spontaneously and instantaneously disappears into its native nothingness because it has no truth to sustain its imaginary existence. In reality, there is only one Mind emanating infinite, individual expressions of the one Mind; yet at the same time still remaining the one Mind. There are not many minds. Since this Mind is self-existent, it must be immortal and eternal. It is completely free from all that is unlike Spirit, God...because it is Spirit, God. It is our one and only real Mind. Our real, true identity is not a corporeal being (two eyes, arms legs, etc.). The corporeal being is a false image projected and painted onto the canvas of mortal consciousness by the so-called carnal/moral mind. Our real, true identity is the image and likeness of immortal Mind, - the pure and perfect, incorporeal idea of infinite Spirit, God. Immortal Mind has never, for one second, stopped being our real Mind (which is not in anything) and we have never, for one second, stopped being the pure and perfect, incorporeal idea of infinite Spirit, God, our real Mind. We just mistakenly believed we fell into a deep sleep, separated ourselves from immortal Mind and were mesmerized by the false belief that we became the dream of the carnal mind. Dream and dreamer are one. As the Psalmist wrote: "As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness."

Aren't there different levels of seeing and knowing. Most people see and know through a very narrow glass,"through a glass darkly". ...and what would enlighten the glass would be a higher level of consciousness.What Spira says is good intellectual understanding , which must have come from deep experience, most of us are so identified that there is little awareness, no less consciousness. Identification does not allow for experience of the infinite.Most, are not aware.

I believe that Spira is referring to a knowing that is part and parcel of the universal conciousness. If indeed our conciousness is of the universal conciousness then by implication, all knowledge that is part of that conciousness is ours to know. It has been proposed that the universe is holographic in nature. This means that every part of the universe is contained in every other part. At least in the form of information content. Or that is perhaps the way I understand it. After all my face doesn't look anything like the Sun. Spira is saying in his own way that conciousness is this way. Conciousness is holographic. And indeed, if the universe is holographic in nature, so indeed is conciousness.

Can anyone please explain what he means when he says .... you never experience a room, but only the perception of it. Can you explain the same thing taking a spoon as an example ? It would then mean, that, 1- you never experience a spoon, but only the perception of it... and then 2- what happens if you go ahead and touch it ? I hope I am making sense here. Thank You. Can someone please elaborate on these points.... #1 and #2 .. Thank You!!!!
@Ravasssz8 жыл бұрын
You never experience anything other than the perceptions of it. Seeing, hearing, touching, smelling are all perceptions. You can never really come contact with the world outside. In your second example, you do not come contact with the spoon, you are experiencing the sensation of touch which is a perception just as well as the sight of the spoon. All these experiences happen in our consciousness, made out of consciousness and known by our consciousness. We take the world outside for granted, but in reality, there is nothing else but experiences and perceptions appearing in our consciousness.
@divinechemechanical8 жыл бұрын
Wouldn't one more properly state that the perception IS the thing, not that the perception is "of" some "other" thing? My understanding is that the perception is precisely the thing. Thus, the whole debate about whether one contacts "the world outside" is really a non-issue, because one does not need to posit an "outside" world, nor disprove it, for the world is a perception, and the perception is the reality. It is the nature of both the world and perception which needs to be adjusted, not just the world. The perception (sight, smell, touch, taste) of the orange is the orange, not that the perception is of some mysterious unknown object beyond the perception. There is no world outside, for there is no outside. Yet, perception is not merely a fleeting mirage or imagination, but is a matrix of Consciousness where the root Consciousness maintains the continuity of "perceivables," stabilizes, say, the orange such that one can combine two similar perceptions and call them both "orange."
@edzardpiltz63486 жыл бұрын
@@divinechemechanical, partly agreed. But what is generating the perceptions when there are no objects but perception. That would mean no eyes, no erst, nose ect... So how can there be perceptions when the perceiving organs itself consists only of perceptions. Would it then still be correct to talk about perceptions, or wouldn't it be more true to say that everything we experience is an arising in conciousness known by conciousness. I think this is also Ruperts angle.

When you see color you are seeing different frequencies of light. your brain marks these frequencies as distinct colors within your perception. Your not seeing the light as waves moving with different rates of oscillation which is really what it is. Your perception colors the wave. It marks it with specific colors to make the information useful for your survival. Your perception is not showing you what really is it divides things up to make information useful

I wonder why awareness needs to be watching the "movies". It is not so fun to be the finite separate self most of the time. The bodies have nervous systems which feel and have emotions, pain, etc.Even being aware of the awareness in us, there is no way we can avoid the pain, mainly the physical pain. Couldn't awareness be simply itself ?

This perspective 👀 makes you realize that everything you do, you have done to yourself 🥰 . Yes, only this truth, when it is understood, ⚡️ will simply wipe away all dream wars, strife, misery and suffering and never be noticed again. The truth is always very simple 🥰🙏 all good things from activity to activity 👀👀😜 awareness is what you are 🥰 there is nothing to do, just „being“ whiteout „doing“ ! All the problems came from „ your doing 🪄 by thinking! There are no problems whiteout „ thinking problems! Could anyone please explain what he means with "the screen"?
@MidiwaveProductions7 жыл бұрын
Free Flow. It is a metaphor. The TV-screen is awareness/consciousness. When there is no movie playing on the screen there is awareness aware of itself (the screen). When a movie is playing it is awareness that modulate itself into colors, shapes and is witnessing it´s own modulations. From the perspective of a character in the movie there are objects and separate selfs (bodies). From the perspective of awareness there is only itself --- no objects and separate selfs.
@FreeFlow__7 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Can this be used the same way in the screen of seeing?
@MidiwaveProductions7 жыл бұрын
Free Flow. The screen is the seeing. In other words: There is not a screen and a seeing. It is One. You are and you are aware that you are. I am that.

If you're going to use quote, at least get them right ! Cézanne said the following : One day will come when a mere carrot will engender a revolution - Un jour viendra où une simple carotte fera naître une révolution. The "freshly observed' is an utter invention. Signed : As Aware as I'll ever be !
@peterjones65077 жыл бұрын
The revolution can only happen if the carrot is freshly observed. I doubt Cezanne would have a problem with Spira's exposition.

“Nor does it know anything of an outside world”... if it is not aware of an outside world- how can it be said to be ‘infinite’ awareness? Infinite up to the edge of my personal world? Not trying to argue- but to understand. It is said that God is omniscient. That means it must know all- including what I see as an outside wold. If not then what is seeing what I see if it is illusion?

At 15:41 I begin to disagree. He assumes that humans have encountered a knowing of everything and therefore see with their memories only. This does not hold true. Babies have no knowing. Yet they do use their senses to build a knowing. Humans of other cultures build different knowings. It is not impossible to sense something you have never experienced. The senses all all about learning new things. Anyone?

Babba Gum That is exactly my argument he seems to contradict himself. With all due respect, you have to define heaven for me.Is it a desire to be had over just an empty brain. It suggests that a person wants something which goes against the whole philosophy of meditation and awareness.

The simple fact is that perception is of a construction that is well beyond that function of the brain, though rooted in it. There is nothing, not a single quality in any existent or its interrelations with any other existent which in any sum or multiple can give rise to self-awareness. That is a fact. Neuroscience of the materialist bent is ridiculous and one dimensional in its analysis, i.e., that the mind is merely the consequence of brain function. Were this true, the abstract nature of this very discussion could not take place or have any meaning at all. The process of perception at its fundamental level is fairly straight forward. As i mentioned in a previous post, it is quantitatively objective and qualitatively subjective and this fact is inescapable. Can anyone explain how or under what circumstance the square could be mistaking for the circle? (do not mistake that were the visual system taxed to its functional limits that this means it is not objective quantitatively. That a camera cannot take a picture of atoms does not indict the technology of photography). Can one mistake the mouse for the tree? NO! From such basic, unequivocal perceptions, we can come to understand the epistemological process for what it is and know it is not the drivel this guy is peddling.

Timothy Manning I don’t even know how to ask. I’m very attracted to Rupert and his very clear and simple teaching. Simple not to be confused with easy. There are glimpses I have but mostly I’m hook, line, and sinker as a separate self, writhing in resistance and apparent suffering. I look toward Rupert, then I go back to the world of the most intense evil, bloodshed, economic strife and sorrow. Sometimes I think somehow Rupert is too naive and has no idea the level of organized slavery on this planet. I’ve been convinced over years of hearing about the “New World Order and the legions who day and night carry out the will of Satan. Years ago most would have thought this to be all made up, but in our day there is too much testimony and witness to massive amounts of child sacrifice going on at the level of elites. Does this man live in a completely different reality where evil does not exist? He mentions suffering with examples of a man losing his girlfriend! I live in Nicaragua where bloodshed by the government onto the people is blatant. Midnight hauls out of the house and into the night and a bullet through the head- only for resistance to the government plans of total power. Rupert seems very compassionate but is either naive or just doesn’t recognize by way of concession that for huge numbers of the people live in a kind of suffering that makes losing a girlfriend a cakewalk. I hope you get a sense of what I’m asking. Rupert is obviously wealthy and those who fly in to attend his meetings are likely affluent. Is this a teaching for the wealthy?
@timothymanning81865 жыл бұрын
@@pedrogonzales9202 I too asked very similar questions at the beginning of my journey. The Rothschild's, Soros, organised media control, systematic poisoning, and yes, genocide. It may be hard for you to understand right now pedro, but this is all miniscule. It legitimately doesn't matter. Yes, he lives in a different reality from yours per say. I say that bc you're not living in reality. He is. Where you see evil, where you see very real enemies, a realised one sees only ignorance. That is to say, that they aren't really evil. They're just like animals, willing to kill in order to satisfy their instincts. Insticts fueled by a very wrarped sense of reality. It is only bc of their intellect that they seem evil. That it seems God has abandoned us, or that he allows it. But in reality they are no different than helpless animals responding to impulses, to their environment. The intellect of an ignorant (evil) mind gives you the impression that they are an enemy. But the realised one hates an evil mind no more than a lion that preys on the weak. Yes he is aware of evil. He just isn't afraid nor sees it as very important as he sees it as it is, as I have explained. I was a major conspiracy theorist before the power of now. Now I live in a completely different world. Yes, I'm also aware of evil. But these things are natural, believe it or not. As it is the same awareness that "perpetuates" evil that does good as well. It's all about perspective.

Not meant spitefully but really ... there is no need to underline the profundity of the subject matter by inserting exasperatingly long pauses! A more fluid pace would far better allow the eloquent content to speak for itself. The random insertion of bonkers silences presumably to encourage us all to be extra reflective makes a mockery of the actual content. If we tune in we're interested and it would be great to simply speak at a normal pace; it would enhance rather than distract from the listening!
@tipoquecomenta11 жыл бұрын
In his own words, what he says or writes are evocations of conciousness, not descriptions. The pauses, in my experience, are useful to let that which the words "evoke" grow and settle. If you are hungry for something purely intellectual and descriptive, then I understand they can be of hinder. Maybe you should think of it as a... guided meditation.
@david20310 жыл бұрын
Lou Baird, My suggestion would be to read any of Spira's books. They repeat what he says in public without the pauses. Note that Spira, like other awakened teachers, never prepares for a talk. He speaks as the words come to him. For more information on this, see the excellent comment by tipoquecomenta.

Agreed Lou, and I sense your respect for what he says. I too have to listen tediously around the personality and presumptions inserted into this dialogue as a kind effect we should "perceive" necessary for a venerable guru or something.
