You are an expert at these things, you review products critically but fairly, you give constructive criticism and honest feedback with recommendations for genuine improvements but most importantly, you know what we (the potential consumers) want in these products plus you have over 138,000 potential customers. Anything with your name on it would be a sure hit (and yes, I would purchase one of your dashcams for sure, forget the rest of them because I strongly believe in 7 - 10 years, you could be the market leader in this industry). Think about it !!! Draft up a business plan and begin building your team of designers, engineers, product developers, legal, accounts etc. Register the business, trademark brands, slogans and logos, file UK, EU and/ or international patents for obvious reasons. FYI the proprietary connector is needed because it carries analogue video alongside the USB interface. In other words, it's not just a a USB port, it's a USB + composite AV port.

Velofil mobius records great sound quality making it waterproof out of the box will have negative effect on the sound quality. so its best to have a separate waterproof casing. Would like to see mobius with wifi thou. makes it much easier to transfer video files to my phone.

The original 808 #26 has good color,color depth and white balance. None of that fish eye FOV either. This new camera is different on the inside and out. Tell them to improve the 808 #26 with a higher bit rate and 4K video to compete with GoPro. Even if they have to make it a little bigger.

Techmoan thank you for your review, and for delivering good quality videos. I did notice that you say multiples times that the colour in the camera is washed out. In fact, the problem that this camera has is over exposure, therefore, the colours are _burned_ As you mentioned in 11:53 the phone booths are correctly shown when is a photo is taken, but in the video, they are over exposed (Worth mentioning is the floor, it is completely burned) A washed out image normally comes out of a profesional Dslr camera, with options such as "Cine-d" or "S-log" where by desing of such feature, the colour it's desaturated as posible. It is not a non standard port. It is only rare. It is used in several cams like Olympus, it is called mini USB AB.

I watch all your action camera reviews but still, my favorite has to be the SJ4000. Why? Well, I'm a ghost hunter on the side (hobby) and it has to be one of the easiest to make into full spectrum. Nice wide angle lens at 170 degree and fits most gopro mounts so you can get the accessories easy and inexpensive. The audio isn't that great but we use digital recorders for that. One other thing is I can plug a usb battery adapter into it and pretty much record forever. It'll even work that way without the camera battery inserted. Just don't unplug the cord while in a recording or you'll lose some data.

+Techmoan I think that USB connector is a standardized 4 pin mini USB (not to be mistaken with mini B 4 pin, because they may seem idetical). I had one on a really cheap chinese USB 1.1 webcam/digital camera about 15 years ago, way before micro USB was common (which is really fragile in comparison with this 4-pin mini USB). Its not proprietary but it sure is not common.

Not too bad, good for filming people on the sneak id imagine...The Wi-Fi is a major plus and it looks sturdy. Id like an adjustable lens that can be positioned on the top side as well as the body side, (where it says Hetai)...Could come in handy if having to hide camera in different places.

That type of "USB connector" is pretty much the defacto standard on cameras, Im surprised you havent seen a lot more of it given the amount of cameras you review. It doesnt use USB, its actually a video connector, UC-E6 from memory. The sound seems to have some distortion when you take the rubber cap off, how does it sound under water ie when you make sounds underwater on the beach? I saw in the app there is a custom White Balance option, did you use it? Did it effect the colours in the videos? Shame about the tripod clip though, needs beefing up a little bit I think

I wish some of these cameras came with the camera at 90 degrees so it'll be low profile on the side of a helmet and not screw with the aspect ratios. The 808 at a 90 degree angle and this thing would be perfect low profile helmet cameras.

Put him in the development budget as "gadget inspector" or other way around, but that's already taken. Hi, Thanks for yet another comprehensive review. In it you mention CMOS wobble and I wondered if that term is to describe what reviewers of quadcopter cameras refer to as jello or jelly (depending on what side of the Pond they are from). I thought the wobble you experienced when filming at the start of the bike ride, looked very similar to the sort of image wobble I get with my quad camera's footage yet it appeared to be less obvious once you had switched off the G option and taped it in place.

Interesting review, but it look like that this device has some major design flaws (eg. mounting screw, propitiatory / non standard usb connection, thick rubber casing over the mic and lack of led brightness). Also how long is the battery life? Also it does seem to be using fairly out-dated technologies (considering the image stabilisation, colour bleaching and the use of an out-dated / propitiatory file format -- Quicktime MOV format) This device is not bad but the manufacturers could do better. I am not sure that the price justifies this device (£45.00 approx - according to ebay). I will be interested to see the next version that Hetai produces (does Hetai have their own website, tried searching Google and couldn't find any product or company hosting?)

Thanks for the video. I think I will stick with my SJ4000 cameras. I find that the lack of a view finder a big deal. I really like to know what I am framing. The popularity of the camera also makes it very easy and cheap to get mounts and accessories. I am sure China will come up with something awesome. Guess I'll just wait. This camera is $30usd cheaper than the 808 # 26 keychain camera. Seems like they went cheap on video quality to give wifi and a fancy water proof case. The original 808 #26 definitely has better video quality.

Thank you for taking the time and expense in providing reviews. I was impressed with this camera for the case, wifi. But.. the functions, sound mimc the cheap spy camera watches. I like the wifi so I can check alignment and settings. And closing.. there's a ebay seller out of china linking to your review. Not very smart on their part. If the sound quality was improved and a led in back to show if your recording could change my mind. Right now its between mobius or M10. Oh-can the mobius video alingment be cked via the usb to a smartphone?

Waterproof doesn't necessarily mean what you expect. A 5 m. waterproof watch is not suitable for swimming, even though the average pool is only 2.5 m. deep. Manufacturers recommend a 50 m. watch for swimming with the warning that you shouldn't press any of the buttons while in the water. So this camera should only be regarded as rainproof, rather than suitable for underwater use.. The fact that the underwater pictures are not sharp is due to the difference in refraction in water. A genuine underwater camera would need a focus adjustment to compensate for this, unless it was a simple pinhole design.

Maybe i missed it but i can't remember that you mentioned how much this cam costs. Very sad that the sound quality is next to useless. Isn't there a cheap waterproof alternative around that could be uset do be build in whitch doesn't need water protection by the case? Probably not. Still this cam could be worth buying if the pictures under water would be focused. The problem obviously ist that the Lens has a curved surface instead of a plane one. This should be easy to change. Maybe by just glue something on top of the lense. Could you think of trying to do a modification like that ? The Manufacturer should change that on the next revision. Unbelieveable that they made this mistake. Can you imagine - together with the wifi this would make it possible to run a remote submarine? You also could explore fishes in the pond or whatever.

The settings options that can be accessed from within the app are demonstrated at 05:50 and there is a demonstration of a pre recorded file being downloaded at 06:00

Even though you dont do water stuff much for videos but keep getting asked to do it why not kill two rabbits? you say you have plenty of rough weather so try to record during a slightly rainy day to show how it copes with rough weather AND is waterproof (dont get sick that sucks) just advice! great videos!

I think the poor audio quality of this camera doens't have to deo so much with the waterproofing, as with the way the audio is captured. The audio preamp seems to have a constant high gain, which distorts anything that's too loud. Most cameras have an automatic gain correction in place that'll reduce the mic preamp gain if they sense a strong signal to avoid clipping. It's basically dynamic range compression applied on the mic preamp, not entirely in processing, as that couldn't correct clipping that has already occured. Nothing like that seems to be in place in this camera - hence the terrible distortion of louder events, resulting in unbearable quality. I can hear that adding the waterproof cap adds some high frequency dampening and ugly resonances - that's to be expected, but the distortion is way worse, and it has nothing to do with waterproofing.
