Dikembe was very entertaining to watch especially in the big man era with Hakeem, Robinson etc. He definitely was in charge of handing out rejection notices lol. Never forget the NBA films where he lays on the floor in his Nuggets uni celebrating that shocking upset over the Sonics. RIP Mt Mutombo a true competitor and agent of change off the court as well.

Now, I'm sixteen, and four years deep into watching basketball, and I have never seen a player so.. Different, just borderline athletically amazing, as Dikembe Mutombo. He was a amazing hooper and through all the clips I've watched of him, he was even a great man off the court. Single handedly the reason I even got into the sport, and he's inspired me to do so much more, even outside one of the greatest sports ever. Fly on, Dikembe. 🕊

Noooooooooooo WAY!!!!!! 😮 In 1999, I Had THEEEEEE ABSOLUTE PLEASURE of meeting him at the COLBALT LOUNGE in ATL!! I had no idea who he was, nor did I care. I was there to unwind & listen to a jazz set a friend invited me to hear. He walked up to me and i actually thought he was creepy & intimidating! 😂 We ended up conversing for probably an hour! His voice was just awe inspiring! He spoke on so many MANY different powerful uplifting topics. He literally asked for my # and yep.... i declined. But afterwards, my friend was like, 'do you know who that was'. i said "no. But he asked for my # and i didn't give it to him" (In all fairness he was pretty down to earth/cool).😔 I'm Truly blessed to have met him. S.I.P.🌹 May his family be surrounded with pure love during this heartbreaking journey ❤

Dikembe Mutombo was a true legend and a source of pride for Africa. He gave generously, both his love and financial support, to his hometown, building schools, creating opportunities for young people to play basketball, and establishing hospitals in a region where 7.5 million live in poverty. It's heartbreaking that life is so uncertain and unfair-good people like him are taken too soon, often by illnesses like cancer. The world needs more people like Mutombo, whose efforts made it a better place, to live long and continue their impact. Rest in peace, Dikembe Mutombo.

Dikembe Mutombo, a gentle giant from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, will forever be remembered not only as one of the greatest defensive basketball players but as a true humanitarian. His heart was as big as his talent, and his legacy lives on through the hospital and school he built for his home country. He was a gift that kept on giving, making us proud as Congolese. Thank you, Dikembe, for your selfless love, your tireless work, and your generous spirit. We love you dearly. Rest in peace our Gentle Giant.
