Translating these percentages back to number of GMs because I think it's more interesting to think of it that way in these and the NBA puts it as percentages to obscure that a little, there's 30 GMs so each GM is 3.33% and they round it: 3% - 1 GM said Mavs will win the title 7% - 2 GMs 10% - 3 GMs said Brunson is the best PG in the NBA 13% - 4 GMs voted JDub (3 votes each for Mobley Ja Wemby, 2 votes each for Cade Paolo BM, 1 vote each for the rest) 17% - 5 GMs said Luka is the best SF in the league 30% - 9 GMs think Steph forces the most adjustments 33% - 10 GMs think Luka forces the most adjustments 40% - 12 GMs think Shai will win MVP 77% - 23 GMs would start a franchise with Wemby 83% - 25 GMs say Celtics will repeat (When anything below 7% says "also receiving votes", that means only 1 GM)

So much disrespect for the Minnesota Timberwolves in this survey. No one is giving them a shot to win the West. Plus, Ant is considered a honorable mention for Breakout when he's already broken out and there's no mention of Naz or Jaden. They have Boston as the top defense by a wide margin, but the wolves were the best defense last year. Rob Dillingham is no where in the conversation for best Rookie this year or down the road. Look, I'm not saying the wolves or players had to be number one in some of thesr categories but some of these are kinda disrespectful for a team that is coming off a trip to the Western Conference Finals.

I think there are GMs that have a vision for what position a player is, maybe specially on their scouting report for their team-fit. Like Doncic isn’t a forward, but maybe on a team that already has a point guard or shooting guard, he would be a forward. The Jaylen Brown for MVP thing seems like a GM trying to stir the pot and start something between Tatum and Brown, which has been a theme this past year.
@quebeccuber24703 ай бұрын
has luka ever played small forward? next to lebron and kd is absolutely foolish
@za55283 ай бұрын
15:14 I kinda know what you mean, I think one of the best examples was the 2019/20 Philly team I think people's consensus was that Ben Simmons was the best defender on the team but Embiid was by far the most impactful player for their defense. I don't know if that means people should've just called Embiid the better defender but I think it's that perimeter defense itself is just less impactful than rim protection but it also seems much harder, even more so in today's perimeter oriented NBA with superstar guards and no dominant center on 28/30 teams, so someone being able to lock up superstar guards like Simmons or OG Anunoby is more *impressive* Also that perimeter defenders are only responsible for their guy but rim protectors cover everyone. When Simmons locked up his guy but Seth Curry or Tobias Harris got beat off the dribble or on backdoor cuts and got to the rim, Embiid not being there made it a layup line, so their defense was still bad. A great perimeter defender in a team with no other defensive weaknesses or with a great defensive center can raise a team's defensive ceiling, rim protectors can turn a great perimeter defense into a godly one (like Gobert last year) or keep a team of bad perimeter defenders afloat (like Gobert in Utah or Embiid past years)
