for 21 months, my childhood was not the same ''...and that day has arrived'' ^ that quote from Bob Costas was probably the best moment of my childhood that I remember best. man I was so excited to hear MJ was back. memories =[

I remember this like it was yesterday. I lived outside of Chicago. I went to Sunday School in the morning and couldn't focus on anything. Many others were in the same boat. Then we went to church, and our pastor ended early so that everyone could get home and watch. It was like a national holiday. Like everyone else, I sometimes wish I were younger, but I will be forever grateful that I was alive to see this.

Michael Jordan is the best that we will ever know to grace the court. His return was a iconic sport moment. the NBA will never be the same without the man wearing number 23

One of the happiest days of my childhood. My hero was back. Conversely when he retired 12 year old me had to grieve almost like there was a death.

I remember this game so well. I couldn't sleep the whole night before this game. I couldn't wait to see MJ back with bulls. I was hoping against hope that he would make a comeback after his retirement and he did.

Even though I'm not a Jordan fan, I was so glad to see him come back. I started following basketball after he retired. That way, I really got to see him play. But for me, Scottie Pippen was my man.

Man everything just worked so well. MJ back, Bob Costas reporting, and NBA was on NBC! (And i truly miss the old NBA theme sucks.. I hate the one they use in NBA right now).

man i must have been 12 when he came back and i don't think i've ever been as excited watching sports as i was that sunday. i'm getting chills just watching this and remembering just how good the good ol' days really were: players weren't spoiled, Jordan was king, and the NBA was on NBC

I teared up watching this just now. NBA used to really be something special. Now it just seems so ordinary and plain. There's no build up to a game.

The awards are simpleton conjecture. When dealing with stats and stats alone, Michael Jordan is the 11th greatest of all time! He was awesome!

Ok, I'll make 1 point. Even though he's my favorite player, he didn't even shoot 50 percent from the field like so many other players did. Outside of that, he was great!

Basketball was experiencing EXPONENTIAL growth in the early 80's, so yes, it was going somewhere. It was already becoming a global sport when the ABA folded and sent many, many d-list players to Europe. And there's no need to discredit Jordan, he was a great player. I would know since I am his biggest fan.

@Oldschoolhockey91 Hell yeah, I'm a 90s kid myself and Gatorade didn't make the "I want to be like Mike" commercial just because it sounded good. To every boy that grew up in the 90s watching basketball, Michael Jordan was an inspiration, the beacon of confidence, the competitive edge, the drive, and will power to succeed. I will never be in the NBA, but Michael Jordan's legacy still motivates me to achieve my goals today.

NBA on NBC was amazing. It sucks that ABC & ESPN are doing it now. Their intros are bland. I loved the dramatic intros to the NBA games when they were on NBC. And the theme music.
@ytliang34516 жыл бұрын
It's kind of sad how basketball's success depends on 1 guy, especially considering it's a team sport. It takes more than Michael Jordan himself to win games and even win MVPs.
@AKAKingJames14 жыл бұрын
Man 1999 really sucked for the NBA because Jordan retired and the NBA schedule was reduced to 50 games because of the lock out.
@hoosier306015 жыл бұрын
They also have to bring back that opening music. You knew when that music started, it was fudrucking game time. Wow, Indianapolis went nuts knowing that MJ was coming back, and his first game was at Market F-ing square Arena. That building had way more soul than the wine and cheese folk at Conseco Fieldhouse.
@TheLAKERSareGodsTeam15 жыл бұрын
Good day. And nothing will stop me from proclaiming the truth. He's the 11th greatest of all time and there's nothing you can do to stop or take away from that!!

@Shadow94049 whole heartedly, I'm glad I'm a 90's kid. He was a hero to a lot of people, his video of "losing" when he says at the end of all his failures "and that is why I'm successful." is just bone chilling.

Man, If the NBA goes back to NBC (and I hope it does) they MUST bring back Bob Costas !
@TheLAKERSareGodsTeam15 жыл бұрын
Yeah it was awesome! The only thing better would be if there were some celtic fans there chanting "MVP! MVP" for Kobe Bryant. Just like they did in 2007.

Actually, the Bulls took it to the next level. It's just that your hero worship clouds your judgement.

You don't know if the game has changed because you've only been watching just this past decade.
@ericwill0616 жыл бұрын
We love our athletes, but more importantly we enjoy the feeling of being part of history. This is what the NBA has lost with the ABC/ESPN coverage. ABC/ESPN is more concerned with catching the highlights or the irrelevant statistics rather than truely capturing the purpose for why we watch.
@TheLAKERSareGodsTeam15 жыл бұрын
I don't need to prove to you why Jordan was great, I think the body of his teams achievements prove that.

the man won 5 mvp's 2 defensive player of the year awards 6 straight finals mvp. retired came back won 3 more championships then came back again and was dropping 20 at age 40. the man had it all from the jumpshot to the crossover to the defense.wilt was great but when your the tallest guy in the league playing with short white guys there had to be rules changed back then he could dominate easily cuase it was very easy to score. the league is much harder now, handchecking fouls superstar treatmen
