The talent in the NBA always makes a jump after a major jump in popularity. The 70s had a jump following the popularity of Wilt V Russell matchups. Same with 90s after Magic V Bird. Jordan and the Dream Team caused another jump, which led to the 2000s spike. The Warriors 72 game run caused the spike we see now.

Bring back hand and body checking in the NBA like it use to be... then let's see if they keep saying the OFFENCE TODAY IS SOO MUCH BETTER. THE ONLY REASON THEY CAN SAY THAT IS BECAUSE WHILE OFFENCE HAS EVOLVED TO NOTHING BUT TRAVELLING... THEY'VE DONE EVERYTHING THEY CAN TO LITERALLY REMOVE ANY FORM OF DEFENCE EXISTING!!! Larry Bird just used the three pointer as a dagger in the 4th quarter. When they started the three point contest Bird won three in a row. In his very first contest in the final round he just 23 of 33 three pointers. That's 73%. They didn't even introduce the three point line until birds rookie season in 1979. How well do you think players of today would do with a 4 point line if they just started it. That and the old rules are exactly why you can't compare different eras. That doesn't mean they were trash. I like all the eras . I recognize talent and greatness. I grew up in the 60s 70s and saw bird come on the scene. Started watching him when I was in high school when he played his college games he was amazing and great playing in any era. Luka reminds me of Bird a lot. Magic and Bird saved the NBA. I'm watching the youngsters coming up now like the boozer, twins, Cooper Flagg and many more. I think we have to appreciate basketball for what it brings.
@josephD324 ай бұрын
The irony of your plan to stop Shaq if he played in this era, by bringing in players just to hack him, is you'd be going back to 80's-90's basketball where you had guys on teams explicitly for the purposes of being big, playing physical on defense and hacking certain guys to try to stop them.

Once again, MJ “struggled” against Magic and Bird early in his career because they were on the top teams in the league at that time. MJ was spectacular, but he was a bad team that ascended as the years went on. MJ won 50 games in a season and a playoff series with Pippen and Grant as bench players in 87-88 season and Phil wasn’t HC. The next year, the Bulls made it to the ECF with moderate contributions from Pippen and Grant, and Doug Collins was still HC. So, there is context when it comes to the video creator stating that MJ struggled with the previous era. MJ was a superstar on a mediocre team and people need to understand that. Took MJ 6 yrs to take a basement team to a 3peat and then do it twice.

to be fair as an old head, when I call modern basketball "soft" it's simply the rules and enforcement. Refs control games more now than ever in the NBA, and phantom foul calls are all over the league. I still love the action when there is some, but I don't enjoy free throw competitions and pro athletes gameplanning to draw a foul vs get a bucket. It's also fair to say analytics hurt a lot of sports, cuz GIMME THE MID RANGE GAME!!! A BUCKET IS A BUCKET!

the league is soft now in days. that isnt a lie, that is facts, u breath on someone its a foul, you could punch someone in the 90s and its a normal foul. lebron is a king of flops, that wasnt a thing back in the days
