Can I suggest an edit? For the opening lines, I personally think Canned Heat falsetto “I’m on the road again” is better. I sing it more or less every time I leave the house on the bike, much to the dismay of anyone on the intercom.

Great video Charlie, not sure where you are on this journey, but the A68 from Edinburgh to Darlington is way more enjoyable than the A1 and time wise similar , We did Lands End to John O'Groats (sunrise to sunset) for the Samaritans in June and we came back that way.

Wish you all the best on this ride. Recently returned from doing Scotland myself, NC500 is truly awesome, treat it with respect though as some very tight areas to some parts. Scotland itself is outstanding. Regarding the ROYAL ENFIELD RECOVERY that comes with the bikes....IGNORE IT, it's totally not biker friendly. They'll leave you high and dry in the middle of nowhere without any consideration for the rider and his/her luggage. Customer service is pretty much non-existent. If you own a Royal Enfield, get your own bike/rider cover. Don't get stuck 500 miles from home and end up with a nearly £450 expenses bill to get home. Good luck.

Oh you got yourself a drone! Nice episode! Once I was in the Scottish Highlands riding horses. We lived in a small town called Tomintoul (if I got the spelling right). Now you have to get to Holland, which is the closest.

Our friends like bikes, our bikes are a lot older . We all rode when we were 17. In those days passing your test, we would ride in town, around circle of streets. The examiner would be on foot. At the end would ask questions and flick through the high way code book. I was very nervous, it took me 3 goes.before the last test , I went on an R.A.C bike couse which gave me confidence. So, I'll let you into a secret, I am experimenting with Part Time which I started beginning of July, it means I squish my shifts into a block then have a longer gap off in-between. 😊

Safe riding. The worst thing I remember about Swindon was the Magic Roundabout. is it still there? If you are ever in Catalunya (N.E.Spain) please let me know beforehand, it would be good to meet you, you are one brave lady doing the rides that you do. Plus your Dad's old B31, you know that the bike wet sumps and that you will have to drain off the primary chain case and drain the sump before being able to start it again and ride it, maybe even strip the clutch down and clean off the oil from the plates. You can get anti wet sump valves from Britie in Wales, he used to live in Swindon many years ago. Regards, Morgan @@restdayrider

Amazing video, I own the Royal Enfield Meteor 350. I am planning on doing the NC500 in 2026, all being well. I really love the himalayan very tempted to trade in my Meteor for one before my NC500 trip as its a better long distance bike. Any advice or suggestions.

Having done Scotland and back on both, I would 100% take the Himalayan. When I traveled that far on the meteor it just wasn't quite as comfy, and the Himmy has just that little bit more pull. Also, the Himmy is better suited to some of the road conditions as they are a little ragged in places!

@@restdayrider incredibly wise words, I just adore the meteor its been my first bike and its treated me like a dream I couldn't of asked for a better machine. I've ridden my Meteor from my home near Chester all the way to Bournemouth around a 5-6 hour drive and honestly I felt really comfy on it. Only issue I've found is it lacks the poke in some situations. But the Himmay might be what I need for the adventures I have planned.

The roads in Scotland are brilliant .....living in Cumbria , Scotland isn't too far away . I do a lot of riding up in Dumfries and Galloway ...brilliant relatively "traffic free " roads ......which is perfect for my new purchase of 5 weeks ago .....Yup ....it's a Himalayan .....I've covered 2000 miles on it .....a brilliant bike 😃😃😃👍👍👍

Hi Charlie a site i camped at and recommend is Clachtoll beach on the NC500 well equipped . On your way back down detour over the pennines through Weardale on to Middleton in Teasdale and then to Brough down through the Yorkshire dales via Buttertubbs pass. Cracking roads.

Hi Charlie, nice to see you got home safe from your wee trip to Scotland doing the North Coast 500. I like to say it was nice to meet you at The Biker's Cove before and after your adventure. Hopefully we will see you again on another one of your adventures over the border. Ride Safe.
