Top lick in 3 beats: that's what i call real drumset! Number of combinations possible (polyrhythms) with 4 limbs (voices in independence) on 3 beats: 2 (right hand play or not) x2 (left hand) x2 (right foot) x 2 (left foot)=16 (the first beat) now for the second beat same process: x16, third beat x16 again= 4096 possibilities, different licks (without even considering orchestration, flams and drags). Good work boyz N gerlz! (for those who still think that drumset is an instrument for gorilla's mind).

TL;DR I drum to long and my hand hurts, what do I do.... (at least I think that's why it hurts) So I was recently given a new piece to learn for college and I had practiced it pretty much all day yesterday until my left hand started to hurt. I play traditional and it was around the bone-ey part of my hand just where my pointer finger starts. So I switched to playing match because I still wanted to practice. I woke up today and pretty much just started playing until my right forearm started to hurt. I looked at a chart for forearm muscles and it seems like the flexor capri ulnardis but much closer to my wrist. I ( still wanting to learn the piece) continued but now playing thumb up (I forgot what that grip is called, which is a shame since I did a presentation before which contained the different types of grips and knew it by heart) but eventually I stopped because I didn't want to get any worse and changing my right-hand grip had only slightly helped. I'm not sure exactly how long I had been playing for but I would assume it spanned some hours. We're on a break right now (and were asked to learn the pieces on said break...well more like in the middle of the break we were given the pieces), and while I do want to continue practicing to perfect the piece, I don't think it would be worth harming my hands to the point where when I get back I wouldn't be able to play at all. I'm not a patient being and if I were able to play tomorrow without any problems I'd do it. But I also have a nagging feeling of the dangers of overplaying yourself. I knew someone who had tendonitis so bad that she was no longer able to play violin because she didn't stop playing and kept going. I don't want to end up like that. So how long should I take off from playing? And I had looked up pain in drumming, but I've been playing for many years now, and I don't really think it was my technique that had caused the pain. But who knows maybe I could be wrong. I doubt it, but you never know.

Hey man anybody can if you put your mind to it. And it seems to be a real cool thing to play to impress people. This is above my skill level but I think I'm going to try it out, I can play the swiss triplet, so it's just a matter of can I move around the drums? You gotta take it real slow practice with a click make it comfortable then up the tempo a smidge
