The last GREAT Cornhusker RB imo, we’ve have good - really good running backs since Ameer, but he was the last great one. Was so versatile, shined as a receiving RB but definitely could be a 3rd down busier when needed.

Matt, As a loyal husker fan, Tommy was just one of many good players we had 10-15 years ago. Bo Pelini and his dawgs kept things up when many wouldn’t have been able to. Just see what happened with Mike Riley and Scott Frost. Tommy was the last winner we had at QB. Maybe 8 years later, Raiola is the next!

I’m not a Tommy fan, but against OSU as a Sr, he was tackled early out of bounds and hit his head on the track. Went to the hospital and came back in street clothes. Against Iowa, he had a torn hamstring and wore and artificial one just to play.

Could you do a video on how Nebraska missed out on Danny Woodhead from North Platte NE . He ended up going to chadron State college D2 school did very well broke the Barry Sanders all time rushing record and won other awards. End up going as undrafted free agent to the jets and was on there I believe 2 years until they cut him and he ended up getting picked up by The patriots and the rest is History to say the least Danny balled out bro . Was lucky enough to grow up and play football and soccer with him .

after Osborne NU. did have some very good players, trouble was they haven't had a complete team since the 90's, and IMO it's because our coaching staff"s as a whole have been lacking our staff now, SEEMS to be complete, and they SEEM to be putting together a complete team, BUT how that pans out and last's is anyone's guess

Statistically speaking, Armstrong ranks very high on their passing boards all time, but for contextual purposes, up until Joe Dailey in 2004, all Nebraska QBS were triple option guys, so the measure of success is different there.

Despite “sucking” Nebraska still has pulled in 10 win seasons. Saying they suck is an over exaggerated statement, the Pelini era was good (but not great), Riley era was mediocre. Frost was too drunk to care about the program. The Rhule era is immediately seeing upside potential though.

He has a family from my understanding and I think he went back home to Texas after graduation in Lincoln . I don’t think he declared for the NFL at all and I’m friends with him on Facebook . He was playing with the Omaha Beef for awhile but either I think he’s either in coaching or he’s just got family ties and went to something better .

Tommy Armstrong was pretty good QB. Nebraska was solid under HC Bo Pelini. Once they fired him, the downfall began.

The downfall began when Tom Osborne hand selected Frank Solich to be his successor. That should have been the athletic director’s responsibility. Solich was a great assistant coach. However he had zero business taking over Nebraska’s program.

I’ve been watching the CFL for the first time this season and there’s a ton of mid QB play. Stunning that guys like Tommy Armstrong and Quinton Flowers from USF couldn’t get opportunities to play QB in that league at least
