Was there no other way God could save us? Is the Cross more powerful in this way than God who is only able to save us through the sacrifice of His Son on the Cross? We certainly need salvation by why this mechanism in particular over any other way?

Great question! He took our place - for our lives- he died as if he lived OUR LIVES, we broke the law of God and he was the perfect substitute I would reccomend John piper’s book 50 reasons why Jesus came to die It is brillant and will strengthen and help understanding grounded with biblical truth and saturated in the Word of God! Here are a few truths found in the book- To absorb the wrath of God To Please His Heavenly Father To Learn Obedience and Be Perfected To Achieve His Own Resurrection from the Dead To Show the Wealth of God’s Love and Grace for Sinners To Show His Own Love for Us To Cancel the Legal Demands of the Law Against Us To Become a Ransom for Many For the Forgiveness of Our Sins To Provide the Basis for Our Justification To Complete the Obedience That Becomes Our Righteousness To Take Away Our Condemnation To Abolish Circumcision and All Rituals as the Basis of Salvation To Bring Us to Faith and Keep Us Faithful To Make Us Holy, Blameless, and Perfect To Give Us a Clear Conscience

No there was no other way God promised to save his people that he would do it, hense sending his son, a part of the Trinity to humanity the hypostatic union the incarnation diety became flesh , the eternal was born into human body It’s beautiful and amazing true love amazing grace
