good idea to get the neighbor kids involved. For one, maybe you can move to more of a 'project manager' role and you could have them do a lot of the 'on the knees' work involved in setting it all up and breaking it down, and of course you can impart your wisdom on the gauges, tracks, electrical system, etc. There's actually a railroading merit badge for scouting that you could probably help with (if there are any scouts in your area).

Trains and yard look great! That's some real commitment to put the little black connector clips between all the track segments 😄
@JimZim2 ай бұрын
My advice is to always put the black track clips in when building a G-scale layout. If you don't, the motion of the trains on the track over time could cause the sections of track to wiggle and move away from each other. Just a small gap between two pieces of track can be enough to knock a wheel off the track or maybe even lead to a derailment. The tracks could even wiggle far enough apart to stop the electrical connection between the tracks. I get a lot of comments from people who are surprised that I can do such long runs of track with power connected to the track at just one point on the layout. Well, one of the reasons I can get away with doing that is because I go to the trouble of using those black track clips! It helps maintain the electrical connection between each section of track.

@@JimZim A lot of work for sure! Thanks for the reply and well done on another enjoyable video.

I like G scale trains but all I have are trains smaller than G scale. Your trains are so big and cool. Also I love the one video when you ran some of the trains in the snow that awesome!

In the future you should get the Amtrak 50th anniversary heritage locomotives and use them with your Amtrak passenger cars

What is the longest train you ran ? My neighbor has an outdoor layout. HO scale. His longest freight train was 23 freight cars. Longest passenger train was 9 cars. My neighbor and I bonded over trains. My wife, his wife, their 2 daughters all bonded over gardening and plants.

I used to watch your videos when I was little. Also, are your model trains DCC?
@JimZim2 ай бұрын
Quite a few are, and a few aren't. To see a list that shows which ones are and which ones aren't, go to jimzim.net/ModelTrains.html and scroll almost all the way to the bottom of the page where you'll see the details on every train in my collection.

One steam engine is better than none. Remember that some trees grow up to be taller than others. While your drone is still in one piece, I'd put it to bed for good if I were you. You might not be so lucky next time.
@JimZim2 ай бұрын
Luckily, the drone survived this crash without any damage. I didn't even have to replace the propellers. But if I do ever have a crash that totally breaks the drone, it's the perfect excuse to upgrade to a newer, better drone.
