WOO HOO!!!! Great job Ken!!! Great looking kit too :D. I have always wondered if _Pratt_ ever tried sampling the Whip Crack/Glass from the studio track? Always thought that would have been a cool surprise during their last few tours if he was able to do that for his electronic drums (sample/trigger). But heck, at the very least I got to see them on the 2nd to last show at Irvine Meadows Calif. with my Brother, Friend, and Girlfriend. Too bad they didn't play "Losing It" at the gig though (but did for a couple of other shows. The Toronto show with "Ben Mink" on Violin, and "Jonathan Dinklage" at the LA Forum show), it is one of my fave tracks. - Well, hope to see more! You play with such ferocity and precision! Much like Neil during that time (see LeStudio footage).

"Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery", and to that, you honor Neil's percussion talent. Well done, Ken. Is "La Villa Strangiato" next? I'd be interested to know how you assess the difficulty in mastering Neil's drum parts compared to other rock bands?
@kenkmaryofficial7 күн бұрын
In terms of rock bands, I would say difficult. I played Rush in my high school band a lot, so I was used to playing Neils style, but there's a lot to remember!! And it depends on how close you're trying to get. Here, I was doing my best to sound like the record, which was not easy. I would say Rush is definitely way more difficult by a huge jump, compared to other bands at that time. And as you know, this was many years ago they recorded this. Check out Lorna Shore, a current band. That may be a little tough to duplicate now, lol.

I've said it before but that kit is bloody beautiful.....Right-let's get onto the music. The first time I truly took notice of a drummer was when I heard Cozy Powell playing the intro to Stargazer, the next thing I heard was a little track called YYZ, I loved it on moving pictures but it was the live version on Exit Stage Left (complete with drum solo) that truly fired my love for drums and made me want to hit things. Your version is superb Ken, there are subtle differences here and there but most of them are purely sonic and related to the differences in equipment. You nailed the track but whilst still managing to sound like you......and that's no bad thing.

TY Allan! I'll take it!! And TY for listening!!🙏

Cozy was probably the 1st musician I started to actually "mourn", and those that came after who passed away :(. Not only Rush (and Kansas) but I'm a HUGE 𝕽𝖆𝖎𝖓𝖇𝖔𝖜 fan (and collector), especially the Dio/Bonnet years. Cozy was awesome with Sabbath, Emerson Lake & Powell, and Whitesnake too! Always had that HUGE sound. I guess as a young adult getting into Metal, Progressive Rock, the losing of musicians became very apparent to me, and the mark they left on music. We live in the age of many leaving us that were born in the 40's and 50's.

@@johnandrews3568 Too late for this video, but good to know. One thing to consider is that in America, we don't say it like that, and although Rush is a Canadian band, they sold records in many, many other countries besides Canada. Actually, they sold WAY more records in other countries. Are all other countries to be held to speaking the letter "Z" the way you say it in Canada because Rush was "Canadian"? Isn't language for communicating, and in the end, did you know what song I was talking about? I'm pretty sure everyone knows the song I'm referring to.
