One of the best powerpop songs of ALL time ( I put it up there with "Shake Some Action" by the Flamin Groovies"). Never forget that The Nerves also wrote and performed the original of "Hanging on the Telephone" which was later COVERED by Blondie ! Such an under-rated band.

All those bands like the Nerves, the Swell Maps, the Damned, the Ramones, Crass, the Fall, Joy Division, James Chance and the Contortions and whatever a lot of bands I can't think of or name here just go to show that and why Punk rock is the greatest genre in Rock music ever.

Paul Collins of The Beat (center and drummer), also Peter Case (right and bass player). Later both were major song writers and rhythm guitar players in their respective successful bands. Paul with "The Beat" and Peter with "The Plimsouls."

Not really. The Plimsouls and The Beat just re-did old Nerves songs
@crosslink14935 ай бұрын
@@marcfriedlander2479 They did covers from their Nerves days with their new groups, but also wrote a lot of new stuff. Same power pop music genre, but new tunes. Its all good whether its the The Nerves, Plimsouls, or The Beat.

@ZLUGGO @ZLUGGO I play with the drummer from the Rubber City Rebels and Hammer Damage Band, Mike Hammer. We are in Atlanta ga. He is no "has been", this guy still rocks! Hammer gave me a copy of his Hammer Damage Band 45 with "Laugh" on side A from 1978. WOW! classic. Anyway, search for some "Grinder Nova" videos here on youtube. You'll see. he still kicks arse! Also try "Cletis and his City Cousins" too. Cheers, Johnny

I wonder if anyone mentioned it but Jack Lee, the leader of this group wrote Hangin On The Telephone which was a huge hit for Blondie. Jack was from Texas. His career should have been a bit bigger. Great instinctive song writer.

I think true punk is much more diverse than often credited. From garage to hardcore, same back bone, different sound. This shit out today though, garbage like green day, fallout boy and Blink 182 are not eve close to punk. I think punk completely died out in 1984. I very rarely hear a band today I can even consider punk. At the same time though may be this makes punk more alive than ever. It's more underground and misunderstood than ever, and that's what punks all about.
