Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (IATA: AMS, ICAO: EHAM), known informally as Schiphol Airport (Dutch: Luchthaven Schiphol, pronounced [ˌlʏxtɦaːvə(n) ˈsxɪp(ɦ)ɔl]),[a] is the main international airport of the Netherlands. It is located 9 kilometres (5.6 miles)[5] southwest of Amsterdam, in the municipality of Haarlemmermeer in the province of North Holland. With almost 72 million passengers in 2019, it is the third-busiest airport in Europe in terms of passenger volume and the busiest in Europe in terms of aircraft movements. With an annual cargo tonnage of 1.74 million, it is the 4th busiest in Europe. AMS covers a total area of 6,887 acres (10.3 sq mi; 2,787 ha) of land.[2] The airport is built on the single-terminal concept: one large terminal split into three large departure halls.
Schiphol is the hub for KLM and its regional affiliate KLM Cityhopper as well as for Corendon Dutch Airlines, Martinair, Transavia and TUI fly Netherlands. The airport also serves as a base for EasyJet.
Schiphol opened on 16 September 1916 as a military airbase. The end of the First World War also saw the beginning of civilian use of Schiphol Airport and the airport eventually lost its military role completely. By 1940, Schiphol had four asphalt runways at 45-degree angles. The airport was captured by the German military that same year and renamed Fliegerhorst Schiphol. The airport was destroyed through bombing but at the end of the war, the airfield was soon rebuilt. In 1949, it was decided that Schiphol was to become the primary airport of the Netherlands. Schiphol Airport was voted the Best Airport in Western Europe in 2020.[7]

Stockholm is the capital of Sweden. It has the most populous urban area in Sweden as well as in Scandinavia. 1 million people live in the municipality, approximately 1.6 million in the urban area, and 2.4 million in the metropolitan area. The city stretches across fourteen islands where Lake Mälaren flows into the Baltic Sea. Outside the city to the east, and along the coast, is the island chain of the Stockholm archipelago. The area has been settled since the Stone Age, in the 6th millennium BC, and was founded as a city in 1252 by Swedish statesman Birger Jarl. It is also the county seat of Stockholm County.

I just saw you walked by Suitsupply store. I have quite a few clothes from there, I had a friend who worked at the Stockholm branch, that's still the only one in Sweden. I hear they dropped their Jort collaboration. I still listen to his podcast sometimes to practice listening to Dutch. Is he a popular figure in the Netherlands, or not as much as we think? P. S. I mostly shop during their outlet sales in the US not in the physical stores, it's very convenient to mail stuff back if you don't like or something doesn't fit, they have free returns. It's one of my favorite companies to shop with

@@letswalkaroundstockholm Jort Kleder? I think you've lived in Sweden for too long, the company originated in the Netherlands in 2000, and and there are about 70 stores in Netherlands and all over the world.

Thank you for this. Here in Singapore, some people wear double masks and masks are stipulated. The authorities have different rules for those who took the injection and those who did not. Eg. Those who did not can only dine at certain places and cannot use certain places. But I find this whole thing a bit strange frankly. It's surreal. Luckily somewhere in the world people are still leading normal lives and it's not so weird as here, having checkpoints at dining places and establishments and having to electronically check in everytjme u enter a building. X

You are doing good with vaccines and have had few deaths, but Singapore currently has the fastest increase of deaths in the world. Policies may be more or less well thought out, of course, but generally I think there are rational considerations behind restrictions.

Thanks for the airport walk! I love seeing all the airports around the world. Although, filming in the airport could be tricky at time. Edit: Just wondering, can you take a train back to Stockholm instead of flying?

I'm rewatching this video from the airport again, now it's in 2160 and 60 frames, this is perfect, I was talking too much during the premiere so I didn't get to see much, now this looks very nice on any device. I think 4K 60 will be a standard for a while still, I have seen a few doing 4K HDR but not 60 and it almost looks as good but not as good, it'll be at least 5 years before we start turning to 8K

My grandparents used to live in Badhoevedorp, a small town very close to Schiphol. When I was a kid we'd watch the planes flying over their back garden. My younger brother was a toddler at the time and Opa used to call out "Kijk, kijk!" (Look, look!) to him whenever a plane was approaching. My brother therefore assumed that the Dutch word for plane was kijkkijk.

@@beorlingo The sch at the beginning or a word has a guttural sound. Think of sju in Swedish. Not quite the same sound, but close enough. 😀
