Yeah I hate it. I always get tons of comments on my rooms saying "this keeps breaking pls fix it!!" but it's because of recroom's networking system breaking things and I can't fix it. Also, I always have a problem in quests with the enemies being laggy and not spawning at consistent times because of networking lag.

Also. as a game dev, i know how rec room networks! so (in short) Rec room uses Photon Unity Networking. It uses sevrers, but for extra additions you must send RPCS! (custom packets to the server). actions between players are handled using these, if the host doesnt send back data back to the server, the server wont send anything to the other cliends aaand everything stops. "Gorilla tag" does this the same way, the host is gone? everything stops.

You got this video very wrong. Rec room is definetly not "peer-to-peer-to-peer" or whatever you said. They're using a networking engine which is called Photon and the engine is peer-to-peer, but all traffic is relayed through photon servers. Which means regardles on how many people are in the room you dont have to send data to each indevidual person you send it to the server instead. After that it brodcasts all that info to every player in game. Which also means that it avoids having 2 players wifi having to talk to eachother directly! Also hit detection is not based on room authority its based on local players, but this vary on what kind of weapon you're using. Like if you were to kill someone with a melee weapon only he can decide if he dies or not meaning only he can see himself get hit before eventually dying in the game, but for projectile weapons it goes both ways and what I mean is that he either saw himself get hit or you saw him get hit.
