Yeah, there are a lot of shady promoters out there. It kinda sucks, but it can be avoided by just doing research into the person first.

I’m a promoter and the only reason you had a bad experience is because you hired the wrong ones. The big promoters are more likely to take or promise promoting and they don’t do it so go to someone with 1k subs or below because they are more likely to not do anything bad.

this video has started to make me want to work on my rooms because im worried my game would only get less than 100 visits visits (the room is similar to gmod-nextbots but i have my own maps, stuff that replicates gmod the best i can and so on.)

Honestly, just get started. If you don't get many room visits, you can always make another one and use it as a learning experience.

It'll help you to figure out how you should handle things and make sure that you know what to do when your big game is released!

I used to use promoters on pretty much all of my games, but recently I have become a big enough creator to promote games myself so I haven't used them as much. Thanks for the question!

Sorry for the late reply, but I still believe that you can make good rooms! You've just got figure out what you're good at and find other people to work with who can do stuff that you can't. I can't build well either, so I do the circuits for most of the games that I work on and get other people to do the building.

I use FireAlpaca because I found it years ago back when I used to make art. I would recommend using PhotoPea though, its a great online photoshop alternative!

You don't need rec room plus to make a game, but you will need it if you plan on selling anything in your game for tokens.

I just wanna make it clear that you don't NEED a promoter on your game, plenty of rooms can get popular without them and I'm not here to tell you whether they are a good or a bad thing in the creator community. I've just seen a lot of people making huge mistakes with promoters and wanted to make sure that you guys don't make them and don't fall victim to any malicious people. You should also NOT pay promoters, and should give them a small percent of the earnings at MOST.

@@shinzo5744 in that case, it's all about promoting it yourself! Make sure that everything looks good from the event title, thumbnail etc. You've also gotta make sure that the game is fun, so maybe get a few friends to play the room and tell you what you could improve!

@@shinzo5744 there's no point where you automatically get players, it's just luck. Everything you do just increases your chances of getting player. Do if you just keep going and trying different things, something should eventually work out!

You can look at the new page on your play tab and then scroll down to the owners. There's usually at least 1 promoter on each of those games. A lot of promoters also visit events, and you might get a few approaching you whilst promoting your game!

2:18 Its difficult for small creators to actually grow rooms, And most, if not all promoters request lots of earnings or tokens which small creators cant get.

If a promoter is asking for tokens then that is a HUGE red flag. Promoters should only be getting a percentage of the room. There are definitely a lot of promoters that only ask for a 30% cut of earnings and that is what you should be looking for. My best tip for finding someone like that is just to make events and if the game is good enough, you'll usually be approached by a few people.

No, unfortunately you can't. But it could still be a good idea to make rooms and build a fan base of players so you can earn tokens if you do get it in the future! And with the partnered creator program, you can even earn back the money that you spent to buy rr+ if you earn enough tokens!
