How did u wire the wasted spark ignition since u have no distributor?

I had a similar noise issue with my Sr20 megasquirt build.. I ended up with 2 solutions, both worked perfect.. I switched to a Dodge Neon coil (1999-2000 SOHC i think) and used 4 of the 6 spark plug wires from a v6 dodge dakota. I used the BIP373 drivers with perfect success for years.. That took 5ms of dwell all day long without issue or noise.. When i swapped to e85 and more boost I later switched to LS engine based truck coils (the one with the heatsink on it i forget the years early 2000's?) These are a smart coil so i was able to eliminate the BIP drivers.. Running them in wasted spark was as simple as splicing the trigger wires (1-4, 2-3). I used wires from the same truck as the coils.. The Sr20 was originally coil on plug so i just use a pair of pliers to seat the wires and put a cover over them so nothing gets in the holes.. The truck coils take 5.5ms no heat issues.. Keep us posted how the VAG coil holds up over time!!! In the US those 2.0L SOHC VAG coils (Called Jetta coils here in the US) are super expensive..

I started out with Subaru wasted spark coils and "Fairchild" igbt, then switched to Chrysler pt cruiser wasted spark coil pack (essentially the same as the Subaru) with the same igbt. I switched to cbr600 COP with the same igbt, then back to stock distributor and coil. Each set up had it's faults and benefits. My next set up will definitely be Honda k series/ d17 COP or some LS coils as they are both very robust. The VAG coils have been good so far. I bought them for about $22 on Amazon

I have wasted spark coil which has resistanse 0.70 ohm and 9000ohm and wanted upgrade to Eclipse 420a coil has 0.51-0.61ohm (B+ and PIN A / C),1and3 or 2and4 cyl.return resistance 11.5-13.5 K ohm can i use that on my car? It should keep it up 40.000v(420a)
@OpenLogicEFI4 жыл бұрын
@@RRDfinland I'm sorry I don't fully understand. I think you're asking if you should upgrade to a stronger coil. Does the coil you have now work properly? If so there's really no need to upgrade. If you have a sufficiently strong spark and stability in your ignition firing then upgrading is not going to gain you anything. Those off the shelf ignition upgrades are useless unless we are talking about insane amounts of horsepower. For example I've seen 1000+ horsepower made on a 10 year old factory Honda coil.

@@OpenLogicEFI yes i want upgrade coil but i think that Eclipse coil has better spark than my car,is that 9000ohm meaning how many volt it gives?,i dont find volt readings to my car coil only 0.7ohm and 9000ohm. ive read that Eclipse 420a coil is keepable 40k volts.my car has pretty weak spark vs japan cars

@@RRDfinland oh I understand what you're asking. I'm sorry I actually don't know the answer to that. I would try and find the specifications and outputs for the specific part numbers on Google. I do not know how to measure an ignition coil's available power in that way.

Nice video, Where did you add the 1k resistor? and is it necessary/what's it for?
@DCWERX5 жыл бұрын
I added the resistor across the VR sensor + and - . It surpresses some of the electronic noise in the VR circuit, that noise is very common in Honda distributors. Most times without the resistor you get a jumpy RPM signal which leads to all sort of issues.

Any more info on k24 micro setup? You controlling the vvt and vtec with microsquirt? Im in the process of putting speeduio on a k series. Have done a bunch of j seires on micros.

@@travtech1 went with microsquirt because it was the only ecu I had, I installed a 36-1 wheel on the crank wasted spark setup and as for vtc with the same ecu I turn on vtc at 2100 rpm and vtec on at 5100rpm yet to be tuned

@@TheChristiondavid why did you not just use the factory 12 tooth crank trigger? You running vct "on and off" or pwm?

@@travtech1 for what ever reason I could not get the factory crank or cam signals so just decided to go with 36-1 wheel the only thing I am have issues with is air fuel bouncing all over the place other than that she reves good idles good can't drive it yet untill I get plates for the car.

Hi brother. I have speeduino ecu with me 0.4 but im not able to wire it with basic distributor type system plz can help me know how to wire crank and cam wire my car dosent have a crank or a cam so wat is the set up i should follow plz help me out brother.

You need atleast a crank signal. Install a crank trigger wheel if you have to. The speeduino wiki pages has a few diagrams that will help you

@@somcd6175 you need to first find out what trigger pattern you car has and then you would be able to figure out what settings to use in the software
