I love when buffets do something different than just chilled lobster 🦞

The way to eat balut correctly is to dip it into a sweet, salty and spicy chilli sauce. It tastes like heaven. 😋

Cafe Ilang ailang is the best buffet I've been to. They have so many different cuisines and food is replenished throughout the evening. Staff are polite and attentive as with most restaurants in Manila. If you have a big party, make sure to make a reservation as they do fill up especially on seafood night.

I don’t eat the chick in balut but I do recommend mashing the white and yellow part in spicy vinegar. Eating that while drinking ice cold Coke is awesome!

$72 per person is expensive for the Philippines considering the average salary is about $450 per month in dollars. Definitely catering to tourists and a once a year experience for a local.

you know why guests are not allowed to serve themselves but rather have everything handed out to them on a plate? it's bec of barbaric mainland Chinese tourists who often use their bare hands to sort through and grab food from the buffet spread. this was very common in Spiral when it was still open and now in Solaire's Fresh Buffet. buffet attendants there keep a watchful eye on these barbarians and discard food they've touched when they're choosing what to get.
