I would like to point out a potential flaw with the reverse torque test. If the HT is torquing down harder in forward than the ryobi, that means it has more work to do removing it. The only truly fair way to compare is to do to at least 3 screws driven in each. And then for removal torque down some nuts with a torque wrench to the same value for all tools.

Somewhat of a mixed bag here. I specifically look for brushless for longevity. The 1+ interior floor vacuum cleaner is junk with inadequate suction. OTOH the 1+ handheld canister is the bomb and great to hit the car quickly and easily. I have a beefier version of this 1/2" impact and it is good. I also have circular, jig, reciprocating, flush cut, ratchet wrench, grease gun, driver/drill, impact drill, etc. Just got their chain saw (requires oil) and am thinking of getting their pole chain saw (requires oil; I don't want the dry one). The leaf blower I got was merely adequate. The previous Lynx (HF) was way better, but was 40V, so not really a fair comparison. The string trimmer was junk. Most of the 1+ tools are good overall and represent a high VALUE for what you get. I would not go the Ryobi route for daily pro work, but even using every week, they are pretty good. I use something everyday. You can blow a lot on batteries, so it is helpful to have lots of tools of the same platform, and you can look for battery sales in dual packages with charger, then you always have some ready to replace and keep going.

HT is $64 with 2ah battery, but that 4ah battery is $54.88 last I checked. So it's really $118.88, which often, HD or Lowes may have better deals during the holiday.

For some reason there’s a 64 version and a 59 version. I would also feel it’s important to note that 4.0 from anyone else will easily cost you $100 if not more. Best you can hope for is $100 for a 2 pack.

So the hyper tough i just bought. Is a really good bang for your buck tool.. It fits my needs.. I think its safe to say im going to invest in the 4.0 battery for the hyper tough.. 69$ for the tool a small battery and the charger would be a great biy for someone who owns a high dollar impact just looking for one extra to have laying around for convenience or a spare..

Worth noting that the brushless version is now $59. For some reason the brushed version is still 64. Call the 4.0 battery 55 and you’re looking at $114. I’d say even if you consider the 4.0 mandatory it’s still a better deal than the ryobi. If you’re starting from scratch the ryobi is $139, plus batteries. At the current pricing, the cheapest way to get a 4.0 is to buy the starter pack that also gives you 2.0 and a free basic tool for $99. So in total $238. Or you can get a brushed impact for like $190. Granted at this time you are getting two tools for $238, but still either way you slice it that’s just not competitive with the HT. Of the comparable tools with the battery pack promo, the most expensive in the HT line is the fan, so for fairness sake we’ll add that in at 75 and go ahead and add the 20v 2a fast charger which matches the ryobi standard charger. So in total from both brand we have a Fan, 1/2in brushless impact, and battery set with one fast charger. The HT combo totals 208. 59 impact, 75 fan, 20 fast charger, and 55 4.0 battery. Now that’s $30 cheaper than the ryobi, but it gets better. Both tools come with slow chargers and 2.0 batteries. So the HT for 30 less gives you an extra battery and 2 chargers. Now they are slow chargers, but you get the convenience of being able to plug in all 3 batteries at once if you need to. Where with the ryobi you’d have to remember to swap batteries, and charging the 4.0 will take about 2 hours for both brands. Knock off 15 from HT total if you go for an oscillating tool or jigsaw. 25 less for a recip saw, but it does come with a 1.5Ah battery instead of 2.0.

I bought the brushed version by mistake ( I was sleepy when I clicked). I thought i would give it a try before returning it, but to my amazement, it handled wheel lug nuts with no problem at all, two seconds of impact was all it took. It has no battery meter or multiple speeds, but it feels way better in the hand. I will be keeping it. Supposedly only 30 foot pounds less torque.bought it to keep in the car.

Say what you will about the Hypertough 20v saws, but their circular and jig saws came with fences. My Hart brushless ones did not. If you check the manual, Hart gives a part number for a Ryobi fence kit for both of them. Giving away industry secrets, Hart, come on!

Nice info! I haven’t used those saws, just the 20 volt drill and impact driver.

A more fair comparison would be to use ryobi old 2.5ah batteries otherwise that newer 6ah is giving the tool a unfair advantage.
@jlrockafella Жыл бұрын
HT does not have 21400mah lithium batteries so the power is limited to the old 16800mah and also a low reserve of 2.5ah. If the harbor freight 20v extreme performance batteries it would have way more torque 👍
@dylanwhite65396 ай бұрын

The difference is Ryobi will outlast all of these brands. They are a mid pro home owner brand, but Ryobi is reliably made and have descent power for the money. I've tested many cheap Chinese brushless tools, Ryobi feels more solid made and usually way more power than most cheap priced tools. Hercules is good, but i believe Ryobi will outlast all of them for a reasonable price. However Ryobi is raising their prices for past couple of years now, so the competition is eating at Ryobi's heels. When they have the same quality as Ryobi, look out Ryobi. 😂
