@donadams83455 күн бұрын
The way he is riding it would be illegal in my state which just passed a fairly draconian law on e-bikes. It may not even be legal to sell such a bike now in the state. Riding at that speed in a bike lane would definitely be a no no. There have to be some rational decisions made on the where e-bikes become motorcycles with regard to power, speed licensing and where they can ride.

Compared to a 20inch moped style bike, the 26x4 full suspension Wired bikes provide a most comfortable and capable ride. You can go easily go over obstacles that would swallow a 20 inch tire. They used those handle bars because they are 10 X's more comfortable than mountain bike handle bars..Mountain bike handle bars are made for jumping, down hill on single track, for true mountain biking..There is no true mountain biking on a bike like that, no matter the handle bars..Especially the older you get, mountain bike handle bars hurt your wrists, hands and back, BMX handle bars do not..Putting thicker, more appropriate tires on the bike would be a much better idea, but to each their own..

Why did they cheap out on an 80s era 7-speed derailler? It costs only a few dollars more to get a 9-speed, a durable, robust and proven gearset which actually is obsolete for top end bikes, but gives at least two choices of ratios close enough to each other to give some extra speed or extra comfort without creating a choice of gears in which none feel right.
@jfly224915 күн бұрын
Because you don’t really need 10 gears when you have 3300 watts. The tourney is cheap, durable and ubiquitous and every bike shop has one in stock. Better drivetrains are needed for mid drives due to the strain on the gears. All that matters is the highest gear and the lowest gear, not how many are in between. It’s $2000 for a 3300 watt full suspension with 2100 watt hours. That said, an 8 speed would be nice.

Great presentation! The bike appears to be a combination of the 700 series Ride1up & the Himiway Cobra with lifted handle bars. I have the 700 series and the Cobra hub drive. Do you think meshing the Wired Freedom 52 tooth sprocket , the controller, and handlebars with the Himiway Cobra with an upgraded display and a 52V vs. 48V battery would be a good 2nd choice to go with? I really like the cobra frame and tire size over the WIred Freedom, but I love its price and speed. I know I could probably get 32mph+ from the Cobra upgrades, but the real question is range consistency at max speed on the flat with no assist. I'll sacrifice 5mph speed (but no lower than a consistent 30mph, though) to get a longer range of 5 miles. I'm subscribed for your feedback.

same story here, absolutely gutted i couldn't get a freedom, maybe we should collectively ask once we have more UK based buyers. Dallas buyers club. Improvements for the freedom, lose the rack/2nd/mudguards and batt completely, put on some nice mtb bars, beast.

@AndyPacey Have a bunch of people contact a larger bike shop, and see if the bike shop is willing to import a larger amount of bikes at a time, then maybe Wired will ship to there?
@AndyPaceyАй бұрын
its an idea if there were enough of us, but i think its unlikely, SME's have enough on their plate without int'l shipping and support, Ghostcat gave me a similair response, but then said they might ship in Jan, here's hoping. I'd put my money where my mouth is for a freedom plus in dark blue ;)

You can easily shunt mod the old contoller as shown by Citizen Cycle and achieve the same or even more power than the newer model. It is a lot easier and cheaper than replacing the contoller and display.

East coast or West coast area would be my guess. Anyway, you don't have to go into specifics, but can you share what area you're in? State or Province? Thanks. Also, I clicked on your link that brought me to the Wired webpage. I saw that they have a new bike called the Predator and it's even more powerful. 6000W PEAK POWER and 225NM OF TORQUE!

I dont see hardly any reviewers mention a direct drive lasts about 5 x longer than a gear driven. Im not knocking the bike at all I think its nice bike its just something id like people to compare so everyone can make enformed descions.
@jfly2249Ай бұрын
The hybrid gears in the Hengtai motor have been tested and actually have a 27,000 mile lifespan which is 5x the lifespan of a normal nylon geared hub motor. The geared hub gives you better acceleration, more torque, better efficiency, and much less weight. A direct drive will be quieter and have a higher top speed with the same wattage but the motor is about twice as heavy. For a bike that is going to be off road on occasion, the hybrid geared hub is a better option.
