I love the way it looks. Very sharp. I just feel like its unstable.. watching what i could it looks shaky in the air. Not as smooth flowing as i would want for over a grand. Still looks awsome and if they offered a model with a camera included for around the same price i would buy it for aure.

I seen this copter at their head quarters a month ago on that roof top and it was way faster and smarter than the DJI Phantom. This is the new copter I will be getting and I have been flying the DJI Phantoms since May 2013. I live in Emeryville right next to these guys.

DJI Phantom 3 Pro (includes gimbal, extra battery and 4k camera) costs $1,359 in Amazon. 3DR Solo is $999+$220 (gimbal) + $499 (GoPro Black) + $149 (battery). That is almost $1,900 we are talking about. Would you guys willing to spend $500+ more on 3DR Solo under the circumstances that you are buying the drone for the first time?

Nice piece, but the purpose of this drone is to make some nice videos, right ? the only problem I see now is that this video was shaky almost all the time . The software is "work in progress", but is also the gimbal / vibration damping parts also work in progress or this is the final version ? I really don't care about all the features if the video shakes like this, hope the shake will not be visible in the final versions ... About powerlines, and other obstacles, I didn't understand so far how the solo will help me ? A sonar I'm not sure it can detect powerlines, but maybe I'm wrong, are there sonars or other devices mounted onboard to detect objects in all directions and avoid crashing ? I have a GPS enabled hexa but I always want to fly it myself, and not let the drone do what it wants, there are times when I was in need of the "circle around building" feature but those scenes maybe are 5 - 10% of the entire shots I made with a my hexa, the other 90% are made in Stabilize / Atti mode

lol well to get into this hobby it is expensive. I've been upgrading mine over the past year and started out at a few hundred dollars, now its a $1000+ drone that at least comes close to this. If you want something cheaper, the Parrot Bebop is about $499, but that the cheapest your going to get with a drone with an integrated camera.

mavic 2 pro dronie mode is easy to use . it's under the quickshot menu. it's a good start. it's too bulky for a hike, if it can't sit in a bookbag it's not portable.

Objectively Reviewing the features of this team, I think it is much better than the phantom 3 in terms of aesthetic design, power, range and autonomy, the remote control is a Work of Art and see just looks like a spaceship. I really congratulate 3DR, I hope they improve marketing and assure them that sweeps sales.

This looks like a GREAT device and I thing 3DR has a good thing. I just got into quads and RC in general and bought a DJI Phantom 1.1.1....and I LOVE the thing. I think DJI makes a good device...but from what I read their customer service is terrible. I think if 3DR wants to set themselves apart from the pack, besides making a great quad like the Solo...they need to offer stellar customer service. That seems to be lacking in a lot of companies these days and I think if a "smaller" company can offer better customer service their sales will soar like their quads!

Of course there are some features dji hasn't added like the follow me, selfie, etc., but honestly if you're going to spend $1000 may as well bite the extra bullet by spending 300 more getting a phantom 3 that can live stream at far distances and comes with a 4k camera.

I feel as though drone manufacturers need to be more consumer friendly, offer easy attachments such as FPV goggles supplying first person view and different gimbals and gyros to Support unique photographers and personal hobbies. Over all the 3dr solo does contain some of these traits but needs amore expanded market professional photographers at a cheap price unlike there x8 octo drone.

youyi li i don't really like the phantom too much since they stopped letting you use a gopro on it. their camera on it kind of sucks compared to gopro. although the phantom 4 has some really nice features. the inspire is a lot more expensive than the 3D robotics one haha
