@@WheelieMedia most definitely the NA 55 found in the CLK/ C class is pretty bulletproof. Alongside that 5-speed automatic transmission, the only thing that can go wrong with it is the 13 pin connector adapter (normally the o-ring breaks overtime and coats the connector, my only advice in changing it is do not use a drill using a hand tool, and then you have to remove the belly pan to extract the conductor plate), and if it gets really bad you have to install a new conductor plate, and reflash the transmission.

Wrong! When you buy a AMG you are buying it for the performance and the sound is secondary. Your V8 does 0 to 60 in 3.7 seconds. This car does 0 to 60 in 2.9 seconds according to Car and Driver. Those merc motors are so strong. Bolt on 1 or.2.turbos or a blower easy 800hp. And for drag racing, autos are king. Built autos have been superior for decades. H pattern manuals are for the novelty. Drifting and circuit racing, yes manuals w/ clutch. (Sequential is king). Once you start makings big hp numbers in a street car you want an auto. Note: ive got a manualized- automatic (6l80) with a ratchet shifter. Drives like a sequential manual. Racing its instant shifts, never stops putting power down. Barely feel the shifts

I'd go even further than @CarswithMiles by saying the C63 is right car, wrong manufacturer. AMG has not always built the fastest or most technical cars in its class, but they have been the most brutal and most adrenaline-inducing by far. I remember seeing 6.2L W204 C63's with stickers that said "Only milk and juice come in 2 Liters". Does AMG expect these same buyers to buy the new C63? It's sacrilege.

Great review as always… I am fortunate to own the GLE AMG 63s. The engine is amazing in every aspect as is the comfort, handling, infotainment and esthetic (for an SUV). I can’t imagine Mercedes will keep this 4 cylinder in the more expensive classes

Yeah everything you've said is true If this car had a V8 people would love it, and as a Sport Car it delivers despite the 4cylinder engine... but we can all agree that W20 was the best and not because it was mindblowingly fast, but because of everything and this only lacks what we love a V8 I'd call hypocrisy from those who just hate on this without giving a chance, I was talking to a couple fellas few days and I've said that if the new C63s isn't better than M3 and RS5 because of the engine, then we can all agree that no 3series/4series and rs5/4/3 are better than W204. This definitely should've been the CLA powertrain. A 4 cylinder, electric motor assisted powertrain with a 1,000 pound increase makes no sense for a C63. They could've at least made a twin turbo V6 and no electric motors for the same amount of power and a lot less weight.

As u said in the review I think the badging really is the issue Its the same with all the brands badging their models with higher displacement numbers than the cars truly got And I know downsizing and engines with different power stages are making this way more difficult but there must be better alternatives then what they are doing currently Like with BMW Nobody asked for the 3.0 engine to be named 40i or now even M40i 30i would’ve been fine like it was the past 35 years and to solve the problem with the 30i and the 20i using both the b48 just call the big one 20i and the small one 18i To finish it off call the b38 powered version 315i and everybody would be happy In the past there was 16i models aswell so why should that be a problem Ofc with the new c63 having a 2.0 engine this is way harder since 20 AMG would sound ass but like I said there must be better alternatives U could for example try to focus more on the hybrid power or the electronically powered turbo charger

As an owner 2 W204 C63's, I can say it's not about the speed all the time. There will always be faster cars. An AMG is supposed to be a blunt object, not smooth lines and elegant. Mercedes has enough electric cars to offset its fuel economy average.

DO LESS so you can do things better. MB needs to scale back on the headline nonsense so it can focus on the core functions of its AMG cars. These cars don't need rear-wheel steering, save on cost and weight, and focus the engineering dollars on better steering feel. These cars don't need a 9-speed transmission, save the cost and weight, and focus on a 7-Speed.
