I think motorola is slowly become what old OG oneplus used to be. Not enthusiast centric, but providing good experience that too on a budget. I don't think Motorola and OG oneplus are comparable at all. Motorola is for a much wider range of consumers and is doing amazing for budget midrange phones. OG Oneplus was ONLY for the Enthusiasts then slowly expanded into wider user base but was still relatively expensive as it was a flagship killer.

Prolly would go for the moto edge 50 ultra(upcoming) as my next phone for all that. And as for the call recorder, i changed that announcement to just a simple beep (its in the settings) and no one seems to notice it

Ok, as a Motorola Edge 40 user, this is my perspective. Moto has been doing really good with their smartphones, sometimes much better than what large companies are doing. Low and Mid range smartphones segment has seen a significant growth in software experience sector thanks to Motorola. And like Pratik said, updates do come late, but they definitely are more polished and bug-free. But I'm not happy with what Moto has done with Android 14. Edge 40 got the android 14 update a few months back and it is an utter mess. No lockscreen customization (the only good feature in A14), removed peek display and notification delay like hell. Maybe they released it in this state to focus their staff on the Hello UI release for Moto Edge 50 Pro, but that doesn't justify them ignoring these issues in Edge 40, their immediate predecessor flagship phone. What they should have done is wait for the Edge 50 Pro launch, introduce the Hello UI, and then release A14 to all the older phones with Hello UI instead of MyUx. They did really mess up the Edge 40 series' software part due to this new launch. Hoping they would correct it and bring Hello UI to older phones as well, it really is so much optimized than MyUx for Android 14. Apart from all this, I still don't have any issue with the A14 experience apart from the ones I mentioned above, one of which is an Android fault and not Motorola's. A few fan-favourite features have been removed, yes, but the update team on Reddit said they have plans on bringing back the full fledged update in the next few months (hope so!!). Moto software has come a long way from the start, but I'd still consider it stock android the way it still keeps things grounded. Maybe not the Pixel Stock Android, but the AOSP Android.

Ecosystem Fekusystem lol! Anyone else try the Motorola L7's "ecosystem" CD Drive in 2005 on any decent Windows XP PC? It allowed you to send text, MMS, images, contacts, browsers, calls, you could even see a real life sized screen and buttons of your shiny L7! And even earlier back in 2003 Nokia offered similar features on phones like Nokia 7600, it could even transfer content sans the SAR quota radio waves on infrared. Despite the innovation Im yet to see similar integration between smartwatchphones and AR glasses, maybe sooner than Woman on and or over the moon?

Actually, this UI funda does not get so much attention while buying a phone but it plays a crucial part in using the daily for long periods of time. Bad UI makes a good phone unusable and vice versa. All of this is already in my Huawei View 20 Magic OS from 2019 and that too with no racism to have the same company tv 📺 or laptop 💻 works everywhere and many more features are still being used and 5years of use it’s still buttery smooth and lag free till date no formats or resets and my phone never crashed or froze even if the app running in use did. Galaxy AI is a very niche feature and is not worth mentioning. HelloUI should really try providing timely updates then it may be able to give OneUI a run for its money. Its really good to know that OneUI finally has some decent competition to shake them out of complacency. BTW, most of the laptop interaction can be carried out on an app called KDE Connect. It is made by KDE Team and is fully open-source (it makes software for Linux like KDE Plasma). This is much better than to let companies that answer to any foreign government (specially to the Chinese and American) peek at your data. It does everything except maybe the screencasting (haven't tried that out).

I have S24U & a A30, so from experience would agree that for budget and midrange Hello UI might be better. ONE UI on budget phone sucks as it is VERY heavy. At the same time, for flagship I think ONE UI is still the best skin for customization. And I've tried DeX with my LG webOs TV and it works not sure why you said it only works with Samsung tv

I have used moto edge 30 ultra for 2 years and except for call recording option Motorola was always a good UI. I switched to S23 ultra only because of call recording, Samsung wallet and quick updates. So until Motorola does something for native call recording without announcement (you never know you need this feature very much especially for business people like us) no UI can beat One UI ever.

My experience with Motorola updates was disappointing. They promised an Oreo update for the Z2 Play way back when Pixels and Samsungs were getting it. A whole year passed, and the update never arrived. The "coming soon" banners on the phone only made it worse. Their update service definitely fell short. That's why I switched to the Galaxy S22+. Samsung delivers updates much faster and more reliably. Plus, features like Galaxy AI and Quick Share across any Android device are a big advantage.

I honestly don't care about the timely software updates. I'm fine with OS updates being 4-5 months late as long as they're bug free. My issue is the lack of software updates. My Moto G72 got Android 13, and it's get no more updates. I think one year is a bit too low. At least two would've been so much better. So I'm glad they've pushed their 20k+ Edge series phones to 3 years. Hope that trickles down to 15-20k phones soon.

being a Samsung budget phone user (F14 5G) I'll say Motorola's UI is way better than Samsung's since they provide almost all these features to ALL of their phones, unlike Samsung where if you have One UI core version you aren't even gonna get basic camera features or other features like cast screen and screen recording. It's neat but what's there to polish if there isn't anything to maintain in the first place

Lava needs to work on replacing Moto fast! As much as I love Samsung and Moto phones, I still want Lava to be at least at 3rd place among the contenders. Edit - Not for patriotism, but because I truly believe in my heart that Lava has the potential of creating chaos the way Poco F1 and Redmi K20 Pro/standard did.

I also hope so, but for Lava to be in the top 3, it should manufacture most of its phone components in India, not just assemble them. I'm talking about manufacturing from scratch. Additionally, Lava should maintain a lot of authorized service centers and own showrooms. Being in the top 3 means having these attributes. Look at Apple and Samsung; they have their own service centers, manufacturing units worldwide, and their own showrooms. People are influenced by these factors, and they do matter.

I recently bought the Moto g84 5g and I can say I'm totally satisfied. I bought it for a price of 18k and it was probably the best at that time and price. All these features u told, the design and the camera, all too good. It's specs were mind blowing and once I installed the GCam, it was giving high competition to my friends with their Iphones 😎😎. I must say Moto is getting real good just one catch is the software updates.

IMPORTANT CORRECTION: The features you showed that works ONLY WITH Samsung Laptop, Tablet and Phone can be run on ANY WINDOWS PC. You just have to SIDELOAD the apps on your WINDOWS PC/LAPTOP and you can use those features with any Laptop/PC

One major problem with moto is accessories. I lost my charger for my moto edge 40 almost 6 months ago and I'm still hunting for it. About the updates i do got timely security patches and OS updates. So moto is really working on it. The display and camera is great while the battery drains faster which is kinda irritating that I should carry my charger with me all the time

Motorola is providing feature like Ready For even on 25k phones whereas Samsung provides Dex only on S and Fold series. No doubt as per latest IDC report, Motorola has grew 110% whereas Samsung sales has fallen.

For dex, you don't need samsung laptop. I am using on HP laptop since Galaxy S9+. Also, I am using dex on sony tv and mi TV. so, not sure about mircast exculsivity but compatibility is way higher than what it looks like from this video. again, I have tested with two phones, S9+ and S23U. Also, Dex works with the USB-C hub monitor that I have. Just plugin the USB C cable and it would work fine. ALso, it would work on any USB-C hub which you can connect with HDMI-Standard monitor, and keyboard mouse wired/wireless. So Connectivity with Dex is awesome. Also, you can enable QuadHD mode with goodlock on Dex. So, added benefit. Also, it worked with ultra wide monitor that I have. I haven't tried `use phone as webcam` feature yet. Not even sure if that is on samsung device with dex or via some apps. Not sure about Motorola, hence can't comment on that. but dex is for sure far more compatible than what is shown in this video.

I think it's great that it's open source kind of like how Samsung used to be. But Galaxy AI, on time software updates, can't just be good at one thing you have to be good at everything, and only Samsung and a lot more Apple, do that.

Motorola is the new flagship killer, they have done everything right throughout the years. They have captured the most busy price segment of Indian market. They killed it with edge 50 pro, though ufs 2.2 storage, it is performing better than 3.1 ones. They just have to work on service centres now!

I agree the fact that motorola has come a long way in terms of improvement. But here is a major problem which i face in my phone(Motorola Edge 40 neo): The WhatsApp and other social media app do not run in background somehow and only when we open the app it runs causing delayed notifications and irregular functionality. And it still runs on Android 13. Everyone with this mobile has the problem.

Moto doesn't even have enough service centres throughout the country, doesn't have a screen guard so u have to find a tempered glass as soon as u open it, does not have AppLock and app hider, mid range phones have heating issue, below avg camera, moto only looks good on paper, in reality its a below avg smartphone, now if its your first smartphone you won't notice these things, but if you have used other brands you would notice it

Samsung UI gives very niche features without thinking about giving basic features like Inbuilt internet-speed-meter and app-lock haven't been given even today which is available since MIUI 6 or earlier in MIUI... Also Moto's doesn't have many basic features as Samsung... For power users, OneUI is worst, it is bulky which makes it very sluggish on budget or mid-range phones, also some flagship features are exclusive for flagship phones...
