Today i take a look at Bachmann's all NEW tooling of the iconic BR Class 47, i put the model under the microscope and find out how good this model is

I've pre-ordered the current day 47712 BR ScotRail with sound and to be honest its the maximum I'll pay for a Bachmann 47 @£288 and even that was a stretch, the deluxe coming at £369 is a joke. Thankfully I don't own any previous 47's from anyone thus 47712 is a nice have and fits in with my other preservation diesels mainly coming from Accurascale (37's & 55's) which excites me even more but must say to the eye this new Bachmann 47 doesn't look that different to their previous older 47 which says a lot about the older model. Will be interesting to see how the Heljan 47 shapes up when it comes out but the signs don't look good considering it apparently has cab front shape issues like their O Gauge model. Personally I think either Accurascale's Class 37, Class 55 or even the Class 92 will take out the model of 2022 award based on what I've seen so far but we shall see.

Excellent review of the fantastic detail Class 47 from Bachmann Peter 👍 It fantastic that you got a model of this one as you have seen one at the Severn Valley Railway a few years ago. I like the one class 47 that was painted in LNWR livery back in the 1990s and I don’t know if it repainted, but I like the video shot from a on video from the 90s that shown both the Intercity & LNWR class 47s double heading out of Coventry.

Brilliant review there peter on the new bachmann 47, I think my original comment has either got deleted or has been held for review because I put a link in it that would take you to a picture of 47828, the photo was for when you were talking about the number 1 end lighting.

@@class47peter yeah sorry about that Peter, I think it is because KZbin may consider it as likely spam, I think it is the link I put into it which all it was was a picture of the number 1 end of 47828, if you want to see the comment I left I think you can access it, go to your KZbin studio either on whatever device you use for your KZbin, if it is computer it will be called channel dashboard, on there you should see latest video which will be this one, go to see comments then there will be a tab held for review, if it has been held by KZbin that is where it will be, this is only if you do want to see the comment I’m not forcing you to do this.

Excellent review as always Peter. I have two previous tooling Bachmann 47s and they are more than good enough for me. If i ever do want anymore 47s i will go for the new tool Heljan 47 which is just as detailed for a more reasonable price. Stay safe and take care, regards Gary.

Cheers Gary, glad you enjoyed. Theres already been reports of issues of the cab shape of Heljan's OO 47 like with their O Gauge model. But will be interesting to see how it compares

Great review! Looking forward to getting mine soon. I think the model is modelled on the 80s/90s version of 828 as the current loco has multiple working sockets on the front next to the lights as when DRS owned it plus it also has LED lights fitted

Thanks for the comment , glad you enjoyed This is indeed modelled on the loco as it looked in the 80s and 90s when in service with Intercity before it gad modifications when with DRS Wonder if they'll do a 47 with the multiple working sockets in the future?

I'm waiting for the 47/7 RES liveried version to be released. It looks to be a cracking model. I wonder how the new Heljan 47 will compare to it?

The signs are not good for Heljan, apparently it has body shape issues like their O Gauge version.

@@sapphirejunction8993 I was thinking about getting the Heljan 47 in parcels livery, but, I'm wondering if it would be worth the expenditure? If there is a problem with the shape of the loco, it might be better waiting for a bachmann 47 in parcels livery. Though I might still get both!😊

@@roberthill6216 it's really up to you and one can only make that decision to get it once we see it in the flesh and must say there has been radio silence from Heljan for a while on the progress of their Class 47. I only model current day thus my interest in a Class 47 is very minimal and atm only have the Bachmann 47712 BR ScotRail 'Lady Diana Spencer' with sound on pre-order due to it being current day preserved and all the Heljan ones are out of my era which is from 2020 onwards. Will be really interesting to see what Heljan come up with against Bachmann and whether they have gone quiet to correct the cab ends because if they haven't then Bachmann will bury them.

I believe this model is a cost cutting step backwards for the following reasons 1) No driver, I have several Bachmann class 47's and they have drivers, it looks rediculous without a driver.....2) No cab lights, these have the effect of simulating sunlight in the cab and the instrument glow..........3) No engine compartment lights in analogue. The Bachmann class 87 locos have engine compartment lights that work in analogue and digital. Bachmann are charging more for less. I cannot believe anyone would be happy with this locomotive. Loco of the year......Forget it, unless you are happy to pay more for less.

47 828 did indeed have differing light types on each cab
