Out of all of them Garen and Fiora look the most normal or least flashy. Caitlin at most looks like she went to a hair salon run by panty and stocking, but couldbe in the same group as Kat. As for Garen you can put him next to ezreal and assume he's his senior.

Agreed. Garen and Yone are pretty easy to recognize and Wukong is the only monkey champion, so there is noone else to whom his skin could belong to. Caitlyn can be recognized a bit less but Leona just looks absolutely nothing like Leona apart from her weapons.

I also don't like the character approach they took with her. Why did they make her look so much like a Valkyria chronicles character (specifically selvaria bles, with the long glowing hair, tight outfit and light blue sword and shield matching the hair)? She sticks out even more than yone in this line and looks nothing like a student.

I think it's because the original skin line was from DURANDAL academy which is a prestigious school so they were probably more strict with uniforms as opposed to the new one which which is from Labrys academy where it's more of a ran down public school full of delinquents

When I first saw the skins I thought they were kinda cool, but yeah, they have nothing to do with the previous ones from the same skin line. Although we could argue that this is because it's fantasy anime school, and every year you get to wear a new uniform, or that your uniform is more to your liking or related to your powers and how you use them (like bnha). And Leona just looks like the president of a very flaunty student council, there's a real color mess in there. I dont know the story of battle academia, so I don't know how wrong I am with this tho

I looked into the Battle Academia lore, and the new skinline is actually from a rival school, and Garen and Wukong are delinquents. While it explains their very different designs I still think they are a bit over the top with the details and color schemes, but I still like them.

Is just a mess of colors and wasted potential, Taliyah deserved the legendary skin not Caitlyn, who sounds like a old british nanny,or at least made this event like spirit blossom, a 2 part event with 2 legendary skins, one prestige and a new character, it would have been great to see champions that has a lot of synergy with this skinline (Taliyah, Viktor, Sett, Aphelios, Zoe, Ekko, Swain, Vi, Jinx, who knows), but for the moment Yasuo and Swain are comfirmed to come in the next version, i'm not going to shit very much in this new version, but i agree with you, this feels like a total mess of colors, the worst one for me is Leona, everything looks like Riot just focused on Caitlyn and left the rest for later

Headmistress Camille was also such an obvious choice (I'm especially miffed about Jock/Bully Sett, cuz he literally fits the stereotype. Well actually, they *SHOULD* not look like the first batch because this is from a different school. The first batch was Durandal whereas this one is Labrys. Hence, since this is a completely different school, their school uniforms may have a different format in a sense where each club has different design which could explain why none of their uniforms looks similar or fairly similar

I think he knows that because he says "rival school" and doesn't say that they don't look like the skins of Katarina or Lux, just that Kata Ezreal Jayce Lux weren't as detailed and you got more of a sense of a school uniform and that they could reasonably be related, while those skins you don't get the sense that they are from the same school at all.

Solid video! I think the main thing about the Battle Academia skinline that I find unfortunate is that Riot deliberately set out to make a skinline "based on shounen anime". The anime high school setting feels like the LEAST interesting angle for that. Think of the iconic shounen animes, like Dragon Ball, Naruto, One Piece, Demon Slayer or Bleach. All of these shows have massively varied designs and aesthetics, but none of them (which the occasional exception of Bleach) are rooted in a high school setting. It's just a shame, because I know I was imagining that arguably defining shounen visual approach taken into League.

Personally I think they could have made better choices with who got the skins regarding aesthetic. Wukong and Garen I get to a degree and with Caitlyn I'm getting a slight Satsuki (Kill la Kill) vibe from. Them aside I think various other characters would have fit the line much better than the rest. Vi would be part of a school discipline committee. The school begin a battle academy is more than enough of an excuse to get a little rough. Jinx would make a great sukeban (delinquent girl) with her disregard rules in general. Annie would be a loli because yeah, she's basically made for it. Zoe is prime shojo protag material with her crush on Ez and rivalry with Lux. Ekko is the confident daring science kid. I'm mostly thinking Senku (Dr.Stone). Yeah I know he has a regular academy skin but Fiora has a Head Mistress skin and that's also school related so that a good enough reason for me.

Caitlyn herself is suppose to be over the top, escepcially if you hear her voice lines. Leona is the only one that’s off but maybe she is also connected to Wukong and Garen in terms of wanting to be edgy or something. I mean, if you compare to last years, Lux was a freshman which is why she had a simple outfit. Jayce being the typical student body president means he has to look casual yet cool. I’m not sure i agree with your statement on it, cause i feel it’s suppose to clash since they are not the same batch of students

I will say that the idea behind this iteration of the skin line is that these are all student from the rival delinquent school to the original line's prep school. Caitlin joined cause it would be a greater challenge to whip the failures of the school into shape to win the multi-academy tournament. With that being said, I think that the messy aesthetic works in a sense that it plays on the concept that no one here is good at working with one another. However, these designs don't really evoke the idea that these are the bad kids. They still have their ties done properly, their shirts are buttoned and (sans Yone) have their jackets on with no wrinkles. Yone works better with his long anime hair and his jacket tied around his waist as both are common tropes for a rebel/lancer character if not secret antagonist. It doesn't help that the original skin line had clear theming with color language related to the various clubs that the characters were in but that has been all thrown out the window with this group. (ie: purple was associated with the assassin club but now Leona is coated in the color and has nothing to do with assassins) Overall, I'd say that they are fine but if the design creep continues this skin line will become a mess.

This is honestly why I prefer how the skins look in the Labrys anime opening (from LoL Brazil). The designs themselves may have been toned down for animation purposes, but they look better overall with a more simple look and replace some colors with others to look more harmonious. All of them look great, but my personal favorite is what they did with Leona: removing her lipstick, softening her eye color to pink, and replacing the purple on her uniform with black, minus the tie. It's worlds easier to look at now. I agree with you on your other point too, I wish these skins had some sort of connecting factor; like the Durandal kids and their gloves.

I have no idea why they decided to start putting shoulder pads on these skins but it was a really dumb idea. It makes them look like a professor. It's totally correct. And it has been happening with another skin lines too. Coven Liss and Camille was a mystery baddass fable witches, then Zyra and LB came out like a modern AHS with feather theme. Head-hunter is the worst as they did an unfair job to Rengar and Yi. Not even mention Odyssey Sivir, Karma and TF lost their adventurous touch like Yasuo, Jinx, Malp crew had. New Battle Academy is like Battle Queen mixed with Star Guardian hair color. I think it happened because Riot keeps switching new artists to take over the skin line (it does have a good effect - refreshing the tone) but ya most of the time it went bad.
