I worked at Bentley Motors in the factory for a while right during the launch of the new GTC and Flying Spur. Despite the huge quality control issues, financial and technical problems, which I could talk about for hours, the cars are beautiful and I still am rather proud of the brand whenever I see a new Bentley out in the wild or on the Internet. They've done a great job modifying the Porsche platform with the little they have to make a proper British Bentley out of a Panamera.

@@MehdiJ-zw7dz TL;DR: Porsche AG/VW AG are greedy, do not allow Bentley any real fun, relations between VW Group brands are atrocious. Bentley is too small for VAG to give a fuck about. Conti coupe could've been different and not based entirely on the Panamera (still lots of Bentley R&D in it though) - PAG just wanted royalties for sold parts to Bentley. PAG got mad when Bentley came up with real innovative stuff as the first Group brand. Launch of the car was delayed many months, pushing other projects (Conti vert, Flying Spur, Bentayga Hybrid) back so much they were literally months away from not being able to sell any cars worldwide due to not meeting new emission regulations. This is why the new Continentals were so late to come to the US market. They've fired 10% employees during that time while flying influencers in helicopters (see MrJWW's Bentayga Speed review). Full EV car was put away. QC issues: cars would come off the line with deep paint scratches & swirls, misaligned panels, bad stitching. They probably still do now so your new car sits there for weeks on end waiting for repairs.

@@marcnobel3938 Even if that is the case, when people refer to the "ZF 8 speed", they are talking about the torque converter auto used in a boatload of vehicles. As far as I know, this is the only vehicle outside of Porsche to use a variant of the PDK so it's a fairly big talking point.

3 year warranty is very interesting because I’m sure it helps the dealers talk past the crazy amount of depreciation these vehicles have which I think is relevant because how long does an original owner of a modern Bentley or luxury or exotic vehicle keep said vehicle because it seems like they have a high amount of turn over after a few years as new and exciting versions arrive so knowing that the car is 100% guaranteed during the life of your ownership(2-3 years) could be a very nice perk. I also would be curious how much repair maintenance does a new one of these or similar vehicles require? I would hope a 220k vehicle might make it at least that long with no major issues especially when they rarely get driven as much as a normal car. Has the horsepower arms race seriously effected reliability of high end cars simply to make them more extreme and exotic? Is that worth the bills and hassles? My Toyota and I may never know lol
