As much as I like bluetti's products, the fact that they have all these different batteries that all require different ports and cannot be used interchangeably is a complete swing and a miss. Any power station that accepts a battery expansion, should be able to accept any battery from bluetti's line up of batteries directly with their normal cables.

Excellent feedback about how a brand should have compatibility through it's whole product stack. When you spend thousands of dollars and something new comes out, you'd hope it would be compatible. I think the best example of product interchangeability that is Apple!

Yeah the entire reason I bought 2 of the Bluetti units I did, is because they both take the same battery. If they want to say it's because of the weather sealing, just make a weather sealed version of an existing battery.

Completely agree and have brought this up so many times. I have an ac500 and a massive b300s battery yet if I buy another bluetti unit that massive battery is completely useless and I’m forced to buy another one. It’s a sales gimmick in my opinion to get you to spend more.

Your videos and reviews are always informative and helpful! I watched your 2024 CES video of the AC240 teaser and was considering purchasing... but I liked the existing AC200L better for my requirements. The end of your video you compared the AC240 to the AC200L but did not go into the expansion battery compatibility/connection between the two units. Understanding that new B210 expansion battery would connect to the AC200L, I purchased the "L". Now that the B210 is available, believe an extra-cost cable will be required. What knowledge can you add to this? When will it be available and at what price?
@Jasonoid

Yes, from my understanding the B210 is compatible with the AC200L but would require an additional cable. I have no information about pricing or availability. I'm sure it will be available soon. Bluetti doesn't have that info available right now.

Thanks for the concise review, Jason. I haven't a need for either one of these as I have the 200MAX and so far, it's just right. I have 6-180 panels on the south side of my home face south and get 900watts during the wintertime. It slips slightly over 900 for a bit here and there but that is for a short time only and everything still works fine. I leave it plugged in 24/7 unless I go camping. It really helps with running my office as I do a lot of high-end photo and video processing. 4k 60fps takes a lot of power. Thanks again, and all the best to you and yours.

So long as the panels are in series and you don't exceed the maximum voltage the current doesn't matter, it just caps it at around 900W. I have 3x395W panels plugged into mine and it's fine. Over-paneling is a thing.

Another great video-thank you. My only question is couldn’t you charge this unit using 3 180 watt Newpowa panels in series and another 3 180 watt Newpowa panels in series both combined in parallel to get closer to 1,200 total watts? Or is that what you did in the video?
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid Ай бұрын
Yes, you can use those special 180w solar panels with the lower rated VOC. I didn't show that in this video since those panels aren't made anymore. The stock could end at any time. In extreme cold you'll probably see higher voltage above 60v so you'll want to make sure you use them in warmer temps (Above freezing or so).

No one has tested the parallel kit...🤔🤔🤔 Thought that would be a big point of this one. If the charge input and/or discharge outputs are different do they try to load balance at all or will you end up with one unit at 50% and one that's dead and reduced output, or will the whole system stop working?
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid 2 ай бұрын
That's a great question! I bet they would be more balanced than other dual power stations running a 240v split phase setup. With split phase you have two different hot legs and each power station is putting out their own phase. With this unit, since it's 120v in parallel, it seems that the loads would balance together equally.

A 12k AC usually pulls around 1000 to 1300 watts. It will run on the AC240 but not for very long. Maybe an hour or so. You'd need a bunch of solar and expansion batteries to run an AC consistently.

A nice surprise to see an early of the week review:) This one is a head scratcher. It is nice that you can hook up 4 B210's and they are pretty reasonably priced when compared to the B300 and B300S. I think Bluetti really missed an opportunity by not including split phase, which has about the same level of difficulty as paralleling. Very thorough and useful review! I hope that the PV charging enhancer is fairly cheap. They have one already for use the the AC200's AC300's and AC500's but it is made for the 150 volt limit with input voltage range up to 500 VDC and an output voltage of 145 VDC. From what you were showing, it looks to a lot smaller and lighter.

Hi, great review, my main reason for watching was to see more about the rain testing. So my thoughts are- that if you accidentally left it outside and it rained, with all the rubber covers on, the unit would not be damaged. But generally you would have it outsife with something plugged into it - so what then when it rains? If it was pllugged into a solar panel then will the solar panel plugs be resistant enough to prevent water ingress. Ditto for 12v. How about 110v? Thats why to me, it sounds great to say a product is rain resistant, bit in what real world scenario is that?
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid 2 ай бұрын
The charging cables (AC and Solar) are twist lock water tight connections so charging isn't a problem. The high DC output is also a twist lock water tight connection. The only ports I wouldn't recommend using would be the AC outlets and USB ports during a rain storm.

Thanks Jason. Sort of a mixed bag with this unit, I think. Bluetti IMO should really look at simplifying their offerings. Your comparison of the two units at the end makes this apparent, at least to me.
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid 2 ай бұрын
The one thing that bugs me about Bluetti is it seems their naming convention has no direction and their product lines are all jumbled around. In my opinion this product shouldn't be called the AC240 since it's so different than the AC200L series... it should be something like the IP150 (AC240), and maybe the the smaller on could be called the IP40 (AC60). Someone else mentioned that the product lines need to be more compatible as well.

Excellent as always Jason! I love my Bluetti power stations but, like you, am frustrated with the PV input voltage limit of 60 volts. Bluetti is not the only one to do that but I had hoped for better. My preference minimum would be 12-100 VDC with 20 amps, to enable more options to get solar charging. I waited for the 200L and now for the 240, both are great options. I had hoped for an introductory price of $850 for the 240 as there are others even lower (I know, NOT IP65 rated). I also am not a fan of the add-ons to enhance the operational value, to include proprietary A/C cables. Thank You for the great job and keep them coming.

There is so much talk about running an RV with these power stations, but its not really accurate. I've not heard any power station that charges the RV house lithium batteries. One just cannot unplug everything running in the RV into the battery supply, like the air conditioning. Ideally, the power station should charge the RV batteries and then the batteries run the RV. Have you tried any power station with an RV?
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid 2 ай бұрын
Yes. I have helped a couple people with their setups. You would replace the normal lead acid house battery with something like this. You could also add something like this to the existing system and leave the stock system in place. Most people don't run air conditioners off house batteries. They run their lights, fans, pumps, and other smaller loads off the house batteries. The on board generator runs the large loads like the microwave and air conditioners. You could however run the bookdocking 30amp rv cable into the port on these power stations and run the microwave and air conditioner and other loads like Starlink and laptops and such. It's not a complicated change and adds a bit of convenience to a setup.
@twloughlin
@twloughlin 2 ай бұрын
I'd also add the caution that, even though these types of units are sporting what's commonly known as "30 Amp RV plugs," you will only get as many amps out of the unit as it's rated for - in this case 20 amps. The RV plug is for convenience only. You can't run a typical 13.5 BTU rooftop RV AC unit with this - you'd need at least a 3600W inverter to pull the 30 amps.
@eightwheels2114
@eightwheels2114 2 ай бұрын
@@Jasonoid Can't do that. As mentioned, I have lithium house batteries not lead acid, and they can run the a/c. I do not have a generator, if I did it would charge the house batteries, and I would not need the power station. Its not feasible to rewire or convenient to run separate cords from the a/c or refrigerator. I think its a misnomer it can run an RV. I don't believe this power station can charge house batteries which is the purpose I'm seeking, only run separate smaller loads directly plugged in it.
