This is great! i always forget to set my bit before a project and even after I set the Z it plunges into my piece. for the longest time I thought my machine was cursed and my bit zero was broken until I realized I was missing steps. this will be helpful to prevent you from skipping it your first time. Thanks a million times Carbide!

Please update so after the machine travels to bitsetter after z is zeroed it doesn’t travel all the way back to the x,y,z location on the stock. It seems like an unnecessary movement. Why would I ever want to go back to the stock after setting my x y and z? I already set those locations and am ready to start my job now. As it’s returning to the stock after bitsetter I am already hitting start, run so as soon as it gets back to stock it immediately returns to where it just was. It’s a frustrating step that is time consuming.

Would it be possible to create the program to have 2 saved z locations to switch between? Such as a permanent z for the bed and a changeable z to set to the top of various stocks.
@carbide3d8 ай бұрын
You can save multiple zero points inside the Quick Actions menu of Carbide Motion.
@lamaunmatson94128 ай бұрын
@@carbide3d does it have multiple Z zeroes? It would be nice to be able to switch from the bed for cutting out objects to a set z to the top to do a carving.
@carbide3d8 ай бұрын
You can only have one ZERO value for each axis at a time. However, you can have multiple saved Offsets (Locations) you can set as the Zero Position.
@spetsdod8 ай бұрын
When using the BitZero, and doing the corner routine, it sets x and y inside the loop, and then comes out and touches the top of the BZ. Is that supposed to also set the Z zero? Whenever I rely on that, my Z zero ends up like 1.6 mm above the surface of my material. I have to move the router out of the way, put the BZ on top of the stock, and do the Z zero job by itself. Would be great if it could do all three zeros in one operation.
@carbide3d8 ай бұрын
All three zeros do work in the same operation. Are you using the pin supplied with BitZero?
@spetsdod8 ай бұрын
@@carbide3d Yes. Using the supplied pin, measured on the BitSetter first, and the BitZero is flat to the stock, (with the guide lips overhanging at expected), and ground strap attached to the collet nut. It runs the process inside the hole, exits and measures the top, then moves up to 10, 10, 19. When I use the jog commands to go down, I have to go down 20.6mm to reach the top of the stock. I ran jobs with it set to that zero and it just never touches the stock. The only way I've had luck getting it to work is to manually zero by measuring with the BZ on top of the material.

@@carbide3dI have the same exact issue. There are a lot of us that do (there are many youtube videos showing the issue). The workaround that some of us have found (but it doesn't always work) is to do the Z probe separately. Even still, I have to keep a 123 block handy and do a rapid motion to 1 inch above Z and measure... I am also using the pin supplied... I will be upgrading to the latest version and trying it.

I really dont understand tool changes. Every time Im supposed to change a tool the machine just stops where ever the last path ended. I cant get the boot off let alone get the tool out. This seems like a simple fix? I got a bitsetter but its essentially useless.

When I am manually jogging my machine around, I used to be able to issue the M03 command to turn on the spindle. This is useful when I am manually edging my x&y stop boards (lower left corner). Now I start the spindle and when I finish jogging in one direction the spindle turns off. This is a huge pain. Is there any way to keep the spindle running until I type M05?

The best plan now is to create a pocket or a single poly line along the desired edge. Then run a standard program to cut your guides.

One weirdo thing that’s popped up is with Windows computers (particularly Dell) turning off the Bluetooth seems to fix the issue. Dells are noted offenders with driver issues.

Maybe you can tell me the benefit, but after I zero my Z position and it runs to the bitsetter, it then runs back to the XY zero. Usually I’m ready to start my job after zeroing my Z position. Seems like a waste to have it return to XY after zeroing Z to have to then return to bitsetter. Does that make sense?
