Going by her quotes she a different kind of crazy to Jinx. Both are fairly aware of their insanity but where Jinx embraces it as a coping mechanism to her trauma, Briar's stems more from her naivety and nature as a bioweapon and unlike Jinx is trying to be better (With mixed results). Trying to have a conversation with Jinx is dangerous because she's unstable and her emotions are as unpredictable as the wind, having a conversation with Brair is dangerous because she just can't help herself if she smells blood but seems fairly predicable in how she reacts to things. Where Jinx alternates between manic and angsty Briar alternates between optimistic and feral.

Briar seems more like a well intended person, cursed with going crazy for blood. But outside of that, she seems sane. Jinx is more traditional crazy. She has no "sane" mode. I think its the voice that makes people think she is like jinx...

What you've just described is an pretty small variation in their characters that imo does not distinguish one from the other in a particularly meaningful way. It's like describing two different breeds of cats. Obviously I can tell they're not exactly the same, but they still share 90% of their characteristics, similarly, Briar and Jinx share a lot of the same personality and character tropes. They're both derived from the same cutesy, but chaotic archetype popularised in modern times by Harley Quinn, so it's expected they'll be similar, but their execution is so close Briar comes across as "Jinx but in Noxus" more than anything else. If Riot made a multiverse show and introduced Briar, not as a new character but as an alternate version of Jinx you wouldn't even question it and I feel that tells you just how much it feels like they copied their own homework here.

@@santius0 By that logic, Zoe and Lulu are Harely Quinns as well. Very cutsey, very chaotic, VERY crazy. Zoe's voicelines leaves it very clear that she doesn't care about the death or serious situations around her. Lulu has more respect for a rock than actual living beings. Zoe is the "naive" version, I guess. While Lulu is just looney. But Briar just doesn't strike me as an "insane" character. Harley Quinn and Jinx have a broken mind, not a broken body. The entire point of those characters is that their crazy actions are driven by psychological trauma, and anti social tendencies. Briar wants to unironically, and with the best intent of the world, make friends. Her crazy actions are driven by a physical need, not a mental one. Though, I have to agree. That the fact that "Oh that's just another Harley Quinn clone", has become such a common sentence nowadays, because there has been so many poor executions of the character type, to the point, that any cutesy/sexy characters that are female and INSANE(tm) have been labeled as "Harely Quinn" clones. Even those that aren't actually insane, but are just plain evil.

Every character we see today is gonna be some variation of a trope or archetype. I'm not bashing the idea of having characters derived from the same foundation, I mean Zoe and Lulu? Yeah, they might share that cutesy chaos vibe, but the way they're executed sets them apart. Zoe's naive angle vs Lulu's more 'looney tunes' approach? That's distinction right there. My point with Briar and Jinx is that while they might have different backstories or reasons for their chaos, the tone and personality seem so closely mirrored that it feels like they're just two different skins of the same champ. I'm not mad at having characters that remind us of each other, but when they come off like alternate versions rather than distinct entities, it can seem a bit lazy. It's all in the details, and when the details blur, that's when the "Oh, another Harley Quinn clone" kinda vibes kick in.

Necrit did a lil video on her lore and she seems in control of when she goes Beserk- she can’t control herself during it, but she actively initiated the fight in the trailer because she thought she saw a friend about to be captured. She would have absolutely killed the guy if he hadn’t run away fast enough, but I reckon Briar was just not smart enough to consider that in the moment.

yeah so she ended up not being anything close to a vampire both in lore and gameplay, she is just a experiment that relies on blood (which many mythological creature rely on), lore wise she doesnt really have much of the typical weakness of vampires either both from mythology or hollywood versions, however ignoring those points she is a lot of fun from what i have played on the PBE and if you ignore the fact that she doesnt really hit the point of what they were advertising i think she is great overall

Not very likely to happen. For lifesteal units to be balanced, they have to be one of 2 things you wouldn't want her to be - easy to remove, or relatively weak as a combat unit. I'd assume Gwen is as close as we'll ever get to a lifesteal champion, she's essentially the best possible take on the archetype without making it a nightmare to balance.

As an design point they did a really good job but as in personality it kinda sucks they could have done something like innocent child not knowing what happened when there is pool of blood around em or you know just make her do animal type of voices like growling roaring and so on. But yea they want to make her charming but also creepy but it just not we want..when we love things like fiddlesticks they should have already know going all in creepy its what we want but anyway it's done what it's done we are just coping at this point..

I saw those skills and immidiately though: a tank. You don't need health regen if you can just buy warmog. More ar/mr = less health lost, Briar has CC, needs to stay on target... It's a sticky tank that lands on your carry and if you don't focus it, your wincon is gone.

Healthreg is so insidious. You dont notice it, but it does a ton of stuff. Take Sion, for example. Early game, he is actually really squishy(low base health) and has high cooldowns. But his healthreg is great, which is why he can be hard to push out of lane. On the flipside, take Aatrox - who really suffers from taking repeated engages or poke. He has a kit that actually works well against ranged tops generally, but his base health reg is so godawful that it kinda counterbalances this aspect. If Sion had mediocore healthreg, he would be much worse, cause he couldnt reliably get past his weak early game. If Aatrox had good healthreg, a ton of neutral matchup would be heavily in his favor.

It's from the same people that made Viego, so it's not the first time they could've done a sinister and dark design that fits the lore and people's expectations, but instead they make them sexy so skins sell better. To me Briar is like some kind of frankenstein's monster between Warwick and Jinx. She's a crazy girl that is a menace to anyone around her but manages to also look great and even sometimes innocent. Meanwhile we have her hunting relentlessly on an animalistic way choping anything that gets between her and her prey. Those are two conceps that, at least for me, doesn't work well together. You can't expect that I feel terror for being hunted down by a monster if said monster looks like that. It's pretty obvious that this design was intended to make her more marketable and join the group of "female champ with 40 skins". Apart from Naafiri (a dog), I can't remember how long it's been since last time we got a proper monster champ. (I looked it up, Kled came out in 2016 and Fiddle was reworked in 2020. It's been 3 years since last monster rework and 7 years since last monster release. At this point we can just assume Riot won't release another monster champ unless the community insist a LOT, and I mean a LOT. I still remember the bait-and-switch that Bel'veth was. I wouldn't be surprised if they did it again.)

kinda doesn't make sense when you put her lore on the board, she is meant to be a teenager. She is meant to look like a teenager. Most of crimson units are just like this, after all. The cool point on her overall image is the blood frenzy stance, and thats what we're supposed to use as an parameter, just like Bel'Veths ray form, cause that's the emphasis on her kir and lore: A seemingly normal person with a turnover. TL;DR: She has personality, just isn't the castlevania-esque vampire you were hoping for (which would kinda overlap with Vladimir, that has some of this vibe, so I can't really imagine a vampire like this again)
