When it comes out, I'll show y'all what's up. As mentioned later in the video, some of the new GPT-4o features (like the new voice and video) aren't available yet, but you CAN use 4o for other things right now like text and images!

I have the premium version and gpt 4o on smart phone an my PC don't seem different from gpt4. I've been trying for hours to figure out how to get my voice and their voices on my microphone to go back and forth like the launch videos but I can't figure it out so I'm assuming that everyone has the free version even the people who pay for it at this point. I have the premium version in my GPT 4o seems just like the gpt4. I've been trying to figure out how to get my microphone on my PC connected to it since it said that the PC newest version is launched yesterday so I'm assuming the smartphone one is just the free version yeah I think everyone has the free version whether you have the premium version or not so I don't think it's totally launched yet.

What’s scared me was the how naturally the ai responded to getting too ahead of itself during the linear equations section. The way it added laughter in between talking made it sound like it was actually embarrassed. Freaky stuff, but exciting progress!

You didn't get the idea of real-time conversation (what you are using, which is the old Whisper, just can't do it, as it also can't sing, or make its own voice more/less drammatic, change speed, etc etc). Did you even unerstand what they showed?

Your not using GPT O, that’s GPT 3.5 and 4’s normal voice response time, the only part of Omni that’s available right now is API usage. GPT 4 O is much faster to respond in voice than that. They said they’ll release these features in the next couple of weeks.

Are you not able to select 4o? I have it selected right inside ChatGPT. For clarity, I'm aware the voice model is old, but it still appears to be using 4o within the chat log (unless it's lying to me, which I suppose it could be.)

@@GreenskullAI Sorry let me clarify, it is available in terms of text and Image. However the voice thing is still just as slow (slightly faster) as the old voice model, because it’s still using the old integration system, the old integration involves using multiple models; voice recognition, LLM text generation and then text to speech synthesis, 4O is capable of handling all three by itself which should be drastically faster, but is currently being forced to go through the old three part integration system, where the only improvements in terms of contributions to speed it can make is text generation. So in all intents and purposes it is virtually the same old voice system, 4O’s voice mode/system doesn’t only change the sound of its voice, it’s an entirety different system under the hood. I hope I cleared things up, I appreciate you taking the time to try and understand people in the comments out of your busy day.

@@GreenskullAI Also no I think you can only currently select 4O if you’re a plus member (I’m a free user) currently, I think 4O will be available to free users little later down the line. (That or it’s simple being used too much and defaulting to 3.5, but then at least it should show up as unavailable instead of not at all). Are you able to access it through the app and website or just the website?

I definitely figured the updated text generation speed would give it a minor boost, but you're probably right that it's not really too significant due to the old pipes.

What I'm curious about the most is how its video chat function processes mid conversation. Like, is it just actively recording and relinquishing away data it doesn't need as it's developing a response? In the demo, it looked like he could talk as he was moving the phone camera around and it was actively picking up info, but then when does it stop info gathering to develop it's response? Maybe it's a simple thing where it starts noticing and observing as it's hearing someone ask it something.

The best joke in this was talking about an Ai girlfriend. Surprised it didn't give you a 5 minute speech on how romantic relationships with Ai are not real and how you if you need help to seek a therapist or something. Though it does seem like it's programmed to try and push conversation. You make a joke and it's like 'So tell me more about this other thing-' and it's like, okay, went over your head, understood. It feels like it's, without actually saying it, always saying "Let me give you some examples of things we can talk about"
