Dude I completely forgot that those bulbs could be used for screens! They are going to really revolutionise that branch of redstones since they don't need to be powered all the time

In a redstone world that remained the same for years except small (but effective) feature now Mojang could have stopped with just the autocrafter, the Copper Bulb overloaded the community probably, and if they add comparator strength equal to light value this will be even more powerful. Let's just give it some time to settle@@MrKorwaldski

my worry is that unless you have very rigorous checks to make sure signals aren't being sent too fast, if a single bulb goes out of sync, there is no easy way to reset the whole screen
@MrKorwaldski
@MrKorwaldski 8 ай бұрын
Mhhh that might be true, but that's still better that the shenanigans you have to do to make a 1x1 Redstone lamp display. I havn't been able to desync them, but maybe unloading the display in the wrong moment could cause that. then again, it is easy to see which pixel is wrong, and you just need a lever to quickly change the state.
@MellowNova
@MellowNova 8 ай бұрын
In that case, always have some power source on standby to manually adjust things
@JulianGaming007
@JulianGaming007 8 ай бұрын
You could probably have a clone of the screen behind it that receives the same signals as the real display but instead has comparators on the other side of the power wires to read the state of each pixel (should be stretched to have an air gap between each layer because you can't stack comparators on comparators). To refresh the screen (reset all pixels), just read the state of each pixel and loop that back to the main circuit to turn those pixels off.
@MrKorwaldski
@MrKorwaldski 8 ай бұрын
I was thinking about that too this would also mean you dont need anny ram to store the state of the display since thats then stored in the second screen behind it.

If you don’t care about brightness, the screens come in four base color varieties, which you may prefer to the drab brown of redstone lamps
@the10ofdiamondscard
@the10ofdiamondscard 8 ай бұрын
The Copper Bulbs have four different textures too (on/off combined with powered/unpowered) instead of the two different ones that Redstone Lamps give (on/off), allowing you to do something like have a resource pack that changes each state of the Copper Bulb into red, blue, green, and black and then from there make a colored display.

I'm super excited for its potential in computing. It's literally a bit contained in a single movable block. I'd like to see someone make a data pack (or something) that changes the light level given by the fully weathered bulb to 0, so there are no lighting updates as the blocks are moved. This would also make a nice even 0, 5, 10, 15 light levels for each block. But it would kinda ruin the other functionality of the weathered lamp so it would not be feasible for the vanilla game.

@caspermadlener4191
@caspermadlener4191 7 ай бұрын
@@iPlayGamesX Oh, it definitely is expandable. I am not simply refering to 1×1 repeater lines. With redstone lamps, it is already possible to have 1×2 pixels with three states. Behind the 1×2 pixel a torch beneath and a block above that can be hardpowered with a repeater as well. Using a comparator with signal strength 0, 1 or >1, you can access all three different states of the 1×2 pixel. The same technique applies here as well, but it way less clunky here, because of the blocks being a T-flipflop. Dividing the display in 2×2 cells with a memory from 0 to 15 seems like a good option.
