This sort of genre is difficult to balance. You don't want enemies so easy that they're not imposing on the player, but you also can't have them so strong that they're oppressive and without counterplay.

I feel like butlers are supposed to operate similar to the ghost girl or jesters. You're not really supposed to deal with them, just avoid them for as long as possible. The butler takes like 11 hits to kill a player and only aggros on solo players so they are incredibly easy to avoid. Just keep an eye on them and you should be fine. Killing them is supposed to punish you from the looks of it.

@@agamerfan6647 I think so too. They’re both the easiest to deal with when you’re about to leave the moon. Since the bees will make collecting loot riskier, the safest option is to just kill the butler, take its knife, then immediately leave the building and take off.

How about , hear me out , instead of the "hornets" damaging you, they just mess with the player's vision until they leave through main or fire. But that won't kill them they'll just return to roaming. Now if you're being "blinded" by them Coil Heads won't always stop when you look at them.

The knife should be worth 75, since killing the butler adds a permanent obstacle. The Apparatus should go up in value for the same reason, depending on how many old birds there are should give it a nice +15 per old bird. It's still in the beta though, and with all betas it isn't all final. That's why it's public,so Zeekers can determine the best changes from player feedback.

There has been a small update to the public beta, the only thing I've noticed is that zeekers added a disco ball, and he cooked a whole 1 minute custom song that SLAPS. I haven't seen it in game by myself, but I've seen a small loop video. The song ( in my opinion ) is better than all of the boom box songs and the delivery ship song.

Zeekers has patched some things for solo(like the snarefleas releasing after a certain amount of time only on solo, and there were some solo v50 patches that just came out). So its not unreasonable to hope for a fix on the butler eventually

On dine they can spawn even 7 at a time , imagine just trying to loot . This makes the game really annoying for the people who are solo or just exploring alone . the sanity mechanic is meant for you to stay alone and other stuff. They should limit the butler to 2 maximum spawns or even 1.

I feel like the strength of the shovel got people wrongly accostumed to just hitting every killable enemy on sight without much thought. The best counterplay to the Butler is just... be close to your buddies, and he won't attack you. Of course the knife is valuable as a weapon (I think, though even if it wasn't that good the shovel is not as worthy as before due to the weight) but the bees inside the facility are not worth the risk. They're designed to punish aggresive players and while they seem very strong I like that they have a different mechanic than mindless aggresion without entering game-changing territory (like Coilheads or Eyeless Dogs)

As a more late game player, this update has been really fun, butlers fit really well into the inside cast, forcing players to pair up or get stabbed, also having a nice risk reward to getting a knife but spawning hornets (kinda wish hornets did have some counter play though) The knife being a good counterpart to the shotgun, being good at killing outside enemies and slower enemies at no ammo cost, but being very short ranged. (some bugs need to be patched with it though, and kinda wish it has proper value) Old birds are a much more fun and chaotic late game outside enemy, making dying to them feel a lot more fair than forest keepers just running up and munching. They are pretty oppressive if not on a planet with cover or even without jet pack, but it’s just so heart racing successfully dodging and evading them to get a load back to ship. I like them being really only a problem for late game players, since they only spawn on later moons + adamance, and only being common in artifice (we don’t talk abt embrion) meaning it’s really only the players looking to go far that will really need to deal with them The new moons are great, they revolutionize the end game and make it possible to push the quota further than before with the trade off of being more dangerous, which I enjoy For adamance, it’s forcing us to actually learn to deal with baboons, which I find frustratingly funny, and the fire path is making ladders be really beneficial to buy instead of shovels For Artifice, it makes jetpack SO much more valuable, and makes doing early transfers so much more important. It’s fun making the previously more boring part of gameplay more fun (transferring) and chaotic The new suits are cute, slopes are weird but I can get used to it, Easter eggs scare me and the disco ball is now the best item in the store Wish shotguns went back to how they were tbh, don’t like the consistent 45 + two 30 credit bullets, but that’s hopefully going to change. And lastly my favorite change, GIANTS ARE NOW MORTAL 😈😈😈😈 (Thanks for reading till the end :> )

@@Shirt113for now there isn't anyway to tank the hornets, they are kinda like a jester, if you kill the butler, your dead if you go inside if your really heavy. Zeekers should either make the hornets do 1-5 damage per 2 seconds or just make them killable with a vacuum cleaner, Just suck them and they are dead or like give them a bee hive and they just focus on it for some lore related reason...

If you do your best to stick together, then it shouldn't be a threat that you're forced to kill; if you want to kill it for the knife, though, then you're better off doing that when you've already looted and are ready to leave, otherwise the hornets are gonna make your life real hard

You can kill the bees by stabbing them , did it before , it's not too difficult, will damage you quite a bit , gotta deal with them right away though. Honestly gotta test with the shotgun too and check how easy it is to kill the bees that way might be worth it as I often have stockpiles of shells after two perfect nutcrackers that would otherwise just kill a bracken or a spider that's in an annoying spot , nothing else to use them on besides other nutcrackers which in turn give a fully loaded gun and more shells...gotta spend them somewhere. But if the knife has a value with the 60% spawn chance and if a counterplay for bees that's consistent can be implemented...this might potentially be better than rend to an extent.

I don't think Lethal Company sticks to a very specific style for creatures which is why we go from Monstrous Creatures to something like the Nutcracker and Jack in the Box and then to Old Bird And honestly I love that because it means more unique creatures and variety

​​@@silvergamer7250 The Butler itself is entirely fine, it just weirdly incentivizes killing it to take its weapon despite also disincentizing killing it by adding an unkillable and untrappable threat in the hornets into the entire facility. The upsides and downsides of engaging with it don't balance out, they work against each other and make trapping and ignoring the Butler the ideal way of managing it. Compare that to the Nutcracker, which gives you a high amount of reward for taking its weapon at the cost of putting you through a very dangerous but still winnable fight, and as a result has become a pretty beloved part of the game. I do love the Butler as he is, I just kinda hope some means of dealing with the hornets is given.
