you do realize that I don't use the speed class, right? I even have a disclaimer in most of my videos' descriptions simply saying "yes, i know speed is the fastest class. no, i don't care and I prefer using accel" I fail to see how anything said in this video is toxic whatsoever. All that's being done is testing and showing results. No call to action, no "ree beenox ur so terrible ree," just a simple demonstration to clear up misconceptions. You wanna talk about toxic? take a look at the comment section here. There's a reason I've stopped replying to most of these comments. Straight up insults from people that have uploads of their "BEAST GAMEPLAY" where they show their time trials that are legitimately 15-20 seconds slower than times I've posted while using an inferior class. Being called a liar because "well, I was able to win races with this class online so ur full of shit" or "i was able to beat my speed time trial ghost so ur just bad" despite the fact that it should be common knowledge that any class can win online (I and many of my friends like using turning characters online just for the added challenge), and my time trial times are literally right in front of their face here so you should be able to see what's doable with each of the classes. Not to say that I'm at the skill ceiling at all, but someone setting a speed ghost of like 1:35 on Coco Park and then saying "see I was able to beat my ghost with Drift" is just ridiculous because 1:35 is an insanely poor time for what a speed character is capable of. My personal favorite is the guy saying "ur just fucking terrible, I was able to beat n tropy's ghosts easily" when the drift time trial *literally shown in the video* beats the oxide ghost by 7 seconds (Oxide Ghost: 1:29.35) and the tropy ghost by 15 seconds (Tropy Ghost: 1:37.53) All of these people throwing insults when the stuff is literally shown plainly on a screen, yet my simple, calm explanation is "toxic." I don't know why I decided to pick your comment in particular to reply to with this but I just find it tiring dealing all of these insults only to be called toxic myself, despite me actively refusing to engage in any of the toxic behavior in this comment section. I'm going ahead and pinning your comment so people can see this response and know why I'm actively refusing to engage with the comment sections.

Even today i still see people on Twitter insulting Turning players because they are actually good and Skilled with the Worse class, and the Lobbies... Seriously, For me, a Turning Main, is literally a Daily stuff to find lobbies where are 7 Speeders, and for some reason, instead taking a race a bit serious, the all 7 attack only me just for using Turning... And the Worst part is the usual Speed Toxic people says than items are a excuse and doest count, but jezz, if in a Lobby appear only 1 turning between all speeds, they Farm items like hell just for ruin the game to the different one

Since this is supposed to be a "gimmick" class, i think the boost indicator should get faster and harder to hit the more you drift, but at the same time, you start to slowly build up more and more speed based on your "boost streak", to the point where you can outrun a Speed character if you manage to keep your fire long enough. This would make it *very* high risk because of its low base stats, but very high reward due to its "snowball" effect.

@@simmy124 because I rarely play online (netcode is atrocious, no host migration means I spend over half my time sitting around doing nothing, and I don't need to farm coins), my initial thoughts go straight to time trials and speedrunning, where it would become an instant unspoken best class to use, which would force everyone to basically redo their times, and some of those records were insane. Would be sad to see them be beat easily just because of a new class. I also just wanna throw it out there that I know y'all said it's a high risk or whatever but there's a decent number of people that get perfect full-gauge mts without much effort. Toss them into a long, easy track like Electron Avenue and you'll never catch them. Currently online just feels like "if you don't get hit in the first 15 seconds then you probably won(unless you make a mistake yourself)" because you can break away from the pack and never get hit by anything since clocks/orbs are so rare now.

Reminds me of wipeout 2048. There was a ship which was slow at the beginning of a race (or round?) but became much faster with every boost pad. Could be the same with drifts, but I think balancing such a class would be very difficult

Apparently the fake stats were also a thing in the original CTR from what I've read. Which makes it rather baffling that this same mistake was repeated for this remake. Even more baffling is the fact they added a new class and faked the stats for that one as well. You'd think they'd learn after all the complaints. Stuff like this is why I'm glad every character can be played with any engine class now so people no longer have to dread a highly requested character becoming a terrible class.

Just make sure you go to 10:47 in the video where I literally made a new account and set a brand new ghost with the drift class, then ran against it as other classes, showing a direct comparison, before you call me a liar or tell me that I didn't test things correctly. The difference between all of the classes is pretty easy to see, but if you don't want to believe it, then whatever. Side note, you can still use this class if you want. You can get away with any class online if you're good enough, and it is slightly better than the turning class just because of its gimmick.

@@enterthekyuubi Not really. The Turn class holds back your skill by disallowing you to perform at your highest potential. Skill is irrelevant. If you are turn and someone else is Speed class, and you both play perfectly, the Speed is going to win 100% of the time every time. You only have a chance if items are taken in to account (which is RNG, not skill) or the players you are facing are simply bad. Feelings aren't going to change that Turn is factually slower, and Speed can still utilize U Turning to turn even sharper than a Turn class.

I've tried testing it directly in battle mode (nitro court) with two people and after both karts have reached top speed (taking acceleration off the equation) I can definetly see you are correct. The speed is roughly the same as turning.

Here's how I think the Drift class should be changed. Keep the stats the same but change the way the drift boosts work. 3 Perfect Boosts: "Mini"/ "Offbrand" Sacred Fire 6 Perfect Boosts: Actual Sacred Fire 9 Perfect Boosts: Ascended Sacred Fire/ "Offbrand" Blue Fire After 9 Perfect Boosts, it would be slightly faster than Accel's Sacred Fire but slower than Speed's Sacred Fire. This change could make it the 2nd best class or at least be neck and neck with Accel.

Another thing ive noticed is when turing away from turns and just whenever you end a drift it has a weird snap when trying to straighten out causing you to still be near the wall youre trying to get away from.

Very informal. Such a shame. I was starting to really REALLY like the new class as a former Speed main. But of course, switching from Drift to Speed again, that’s when I realized that Drift really IS a pretty lousy class as I have been loosing races set on “Hard” even when I’ve raced perfectly. I'm was really confured when I played drift the first time, thanks for making this video, I'm also a Acceleration main, I'm happy with the update now that I can play Spyro and Nina with my main class Am I the only one that thinks that beenox gives more love to the Speed class than the others? After speed class drifts, they move based on their momentum from their boost. So you are drifting toward the left. When you let go after a boost you start to move in the opposite direction and the effect is stronger the more powerful the boost. It makes it easy to drift on strait paths, but makes it hard on sharp turns.

Coming from a turning main’s perspective, the flick is more noticeable and because the turning stat is worse, tighter corners on courses like CC and Tiny Arena are clunkier and require u-turning more often like speed/accel.

Joe Neutrino from what I understand, it’s this weird phenomenon where when you release your character from a power slide, they are thrown slightly in the direction that you were sliding rather than moving straight, making it harder to adjust yourself between slides. It only happens with speed characters, and now apparently a little with drift. I compensate by turning more sharply when sliding before the release.

Honestly, the next thing they need to fix in this game is the drift, like JcNumbers said, the more drif you have the worst you do, nobody plays drif class because the high drif forces you so much to curve and go in to walls, high drift should to let you drift to the opposite side just like speed characters, but let um turn more to the normal side, basicly, make your range of turning bigger, not forcing you to run in to walls This could even benefit acceleration too because it would allow acc to go in a more straight line while boosting

because 2:17 cortex castle isn't a good time regardless of what class you used. 2:17 means you basically lost blue fire by the courtyard for lap 2 and 3, or you fell off the track. WR for cortex castle with turning class is 1:54, and I personally got a 1:58 with my one attempt as turning. getting a time under 2 minutes, even as turning, is pretty easy to do as long as you hold blue fire all the way, unless your lines are awful. tl;dr you beat your ghost because you played better.

By the way speeds acceleration is actually supposed ro be higher. Drift advertises that it has +1 turn over speed but -1 speed and -1 acceleration.

Mudshrooze With two controllers you can test it pretty easily on battle mode. I can confirm they are as fast as the turning class from testing it. I think they lied and bumped up the speed so high because of the sacred fire gimmick since there is no other way to show it.

there's no actual way to crack into the code and check the values yet (waiting til PC release) but but by doing side-by-side comparisons and showing the time trial stuff and comparing, its the same top speed as turning, and the turn radius is about the same (maybe a sliver better) as Speed. acceleration is a hard stat to measure and its mostly useless anyway.

@@iTheDashy 'Side-by-side?' Mate, that's a BAD way to compare things. I've done ACTUAL numbers and calculations for the classes, and I can tell you that these so called "honest stats" are also wrong. I concede that Speed goes to the 'honest' stats, though the overall difference between the engines isn't that big... over a short distance. Long distance? Yeah, it adds up. (Though I swear they buffed the speed of Balanced and Turning this update.) But Acceleration as told in game is pretty much 100% 1-to-1. I have the document to prove it, too.

Acceleration is not a useless stat. In every racing game, especially drifting games, the acc stat is the most important because drifting causes you to lose speed and acceleration helps you recover the lost speed quicker. Acceleration in games with boosting is evident when conducting a boost from low speed to top speed. In this game, hitting a turbo pad for the first time gives more value to an acceleration character since they’ll reach top speed faster than speed characters. I used to main acceleration when the game first came out and I remember beating other good racers who used speed because of the shit show with orb and clock spamming
