the prominent octagon is the casioaks main feature. take that away, then it no longer has the royal ap appeal. Its still a good watch with a good design. Its just not the casioak anymore.

G-SHOCK is seemingly becoming the brand who can make you regret your purchase almost immediately after making it. Due to the constant 1up releases. I like this new style, wish it wasn’t so much thicker and rounded than the original ga2100. Love the large buttons. But I’ll sit on this for a few years and after all the upgrades, I’ll buy one with the colors and functions I want hopefully a vintage looking color way. Really want to see a cream color on those indices.

I had previously picked this one up in the black colorway and am really enjoying it. I’ve actually been surprised at how comfortably it wears. I’d love to see Casio apply this design language to a classic square digital reinterpretation

As usual with Casioaks, I have issues with the clarity of the indices. I would have preferred a positive display as well. But really, I'm a G-Shock square person and just received my GW-5000U-1ER today. Lovely.

I love my 5000U as well. Absolutely a great watch, and it can be had for fairly cheap. It's a nice step up from the 5610U without being too expensive for a watch that's supposed to take punishment. I only wish the 5000U was available with a sapphire crystal for $50 more, but Casio likes to reserve that for their more expensive g-shocks.

I like the looks of the old one better. (The indices, and the smaller case size, looking more like a normal watch and not a sport thing).. but, the buttons on the old one are difficult to press, and I bet these larger buttons are far better.

@@BraveBeaters The casio oak was my first G-Schock and the first watch i bought with my own money. So probably may be biased towards it. But I still like the classic styling better. Btw does anyone know whether the resin case and strap can be replaced by the metal counterparts without buying a new watch separately. Issue is metal watches are forbidden on oil tankers, thus the resin choice, but at home I prefer the full metal body which gives a dress appearance rather than sports ... Any suggestions would be appreciated 👍🏽

I bought the GA-B001 last month , can say it is my second nice watch. I love it so far, the bluetooth function is handy. I paid 80 dollars for it not 150 dollars. Pretty good deal.

It looks like an industrial design, with no subtle dial design and all these screws on frontal display...to my taste, the gm-2110 displayed at the side, looks much more sleek and stylish.

Personally I find the design appealing. I can feel the future vibes and would say the goal of creating a futuristic watch while still being a gshock is achieved. Maybe though they tried too hard and wanted too much in one watch for there is a little bit of a design overload. Personally I like the cleaner looks.

The new one looks more like a Hublot Big Bang than AP RO, Casiobang! The problem in my opinion is that this new model doesn't have Solar charging, If they released it with Tough Solar then It could compete with Casioak, the design is much better than Casiaok. Great episode as always 👍🏼👍🏼

I reckon the GA-2100 is better, not only in looks, but you got a much more bigger play around option for example you can swap out the straps, interchange it into difference models as you please, but for those g shock fans who like to swap out the straps every now and then might struggle when they get their hands on GA-B001, compare to the likes of the GA-2100 & GA-B2100.

I love how this one looks compared to the Casioak. I bought one several months ago, but unfortunately had to return it. Nothing wrong with the watch itself, it was me. The watch was ok in the light of the store, but at home and in the evening, my eyes absolutely hated it. Getting old sucks.

It’s not you - the legibility is terrible on a lot of G-Shocks nowadays, especially the ones with Negative Displays. There’s too much of a focus on looking cool instead of being practical.

I do my own luminosity, I use glow paint and very carefully apply it to the indices and points of the hands, I did it to my GA-2100-1A1, triple black and it glows( with an ultraviolet light) right through the night. I anticipate doing the same if I get one of these.

I think the LED is a mistake. It should use just an electroluminescent background on the digital screen to save battery and increase the utility of this screen. No need to try (with relative success) to light the whole thing if you have a small digital display that can be perfectly lit.

Ive never liked the casioak shape. I appreciate the design and respect it from afar. Just not on my wrist. This on the other hand just needs a few improvements and ill get one. Solar for starters and better legibility.. I love the case shape and design but i dont think it will be like the casioak because its too futuristic looking for most people. Shame the indices aren't lumed. They look like they should be. It looks expensive but doesn't appear to deliver what it appears to promise at first glance. If it did, then I'd be tempted to swap the casioak for the future oak. If it had increased legibility, I'd be in. But it doesn't seem that much better than my stealth so not worth the switch.

Yeah, I think they should just take the old Casioak and just refine the features and slightly tweak the design a little. Like adding extra loom for the hour markers, adding solar charging and playing with the face design a little like Omega do with their Seamaster line and so on. I don't like this one really, it just seems to lack the charm the old one, in all its simplicity, has in spades.

Having watched this video yesterday I purposely went in search of the new model today and found a shop close by with three colours in stock. I have to say its the most uncomfortable G Shock I tried on. Compared to the ga2100, ga b2100 and even my Mudmaster it just doesn't fit properly on my 7.25" wrist.
