You should have no worries about being 'late'. Your method of explaining is what matters since it speaks to so many. Keep up the great work and thank you!

Oh wow! I did not realize that if the mask is on the subject when doing the sky. All I have to do is subtract on the subject, and it cleans up. When you did that, it blew me away. I have been doing the add/subtract brushes to clean up, and not always so well. Now, that was a game changer for me. Thank you for showing that tip. Awesome.

If I saw correctly. when you play with the slider/volume control it doesn't alter the curve adjustment you just made, just the 'level of that adjustment application' on the area masked. Tnx nice work maybe another video could explain what each curve refers to. I appreciate illumination, blue/yellow etc. but why is this different/better than moving the slider of that colour, etc.

Thanks for instruction, learn something new every post. The tone curve in masks is different from the global. Would like to see the global with sliders to be incorporated in the masks! The reason is adjusting and making a curve is easier with sliders. I know you Can Not do the incorporating! But the Masking of different items is truly great and is up there when dust removal came out, so so long ago!!!

Question on storage on the mobile version, the images on device that you edit on lightroom where do the image edited go? I deleted the image to try figure out but I’m lost. Thanks

Curves are like any other curve. But the automatic masks are some deep scary AI. Hard to tell for sure on video with chroma subsampling, but there seems to be a white outline around the hair where the white sky was. Maybe the mask needed to be expanded .

Actually, "being late to the show" isn't necessarily a bad thing. As it means that one has more time to seriously consider all the ins and outs of a situation or in this case the various options - both positive and negative attendant to a "New and Improved" feature and, then suggest a more comprehensive and nuanced exposition thereof. I will never attain the levels of mastery of the myriad mysteries inherent in, to be mined and are bestowed by the wonders of Lightroom and Photoshop as you, Dave Kelly and Unmesh Dida and others who really are "in the know" possess - not my goal nor need, I just need to get to where I need to go even if I must muddle through more slowly and less adeptly, less adroitly, but each of you, by virtue of your expertise and bringing to bear your respective volumes of knowledge, enable me to approximate the effects each of you can with ease affect - even if it takes me three or more times longer. Now, when it comes to writing, mentoring young men about the ins and outs of this and that - that they should know about - and selling art? In those realms of endeavor I would be right up there with the best of the best! No brag, just fact. As Walter Brennan, in The Guns of Will Sonnet TV show from long, long ago, was oft given and wont to say.

Hi Anthony, thank you for this brief user guide. I had experimented with this same principle but in headshots. Imagine, order Lightroom Classic (LrC) to create a mask for the whites in eyes (make them a bit whiter), then a mask for the irises (make them a bit bluer - for blue-eyed people), then create a mask for the lips (make them a bit more red). As we care creatures of habit, we may repeat ourselves in the next shot. BUT, DON'T DO THAT. Instead, issue the "Copy Settings..." pop-up menu and copy these masks (this will be "off" - not checked - by default) by checking the mask boxes and now click the [Copy] button. Then "Paste Settings" these instructions to the next set of images where the masking instructions can apply. As the masking instructions are logical instructions to the AI that does the image analysis and recognition, and applies the mask, these will work with different shots too. Of course we need to verify that and potentially adjust, but it is really very good. When you apply such a mask to a set of shots, then LrC and its AI hold your PC hostage for some time, but you spend much less time here than having to go to each of the images yourself. I need to go into the studio and see if it can be applied to tethered shots as well, through some profile application. Or, there are follow up videos in here ;)

Thanks, however there are so many different ways to achive the same thing. This will be useful for some images and HSL may be more advantages for others. Still I always learn something new when I watch your tutorials.

"Game changer," you even stated that you dislike using a cliche. Regardless, my question is how does it change your game? Are you not going to be using the Develop module anymore? No more basic edits?
