You hit the nail on the head saying how we get used to doing things the same way for years. Thanks for the refresher and featuring new things!

Hi Anthony, as a relative newcomer to LrC, I have trawled the net for informative, clear, commonsense, and down to earth tutorials. Bearing this in mind I found you one day and haven't looked back since. In that context I have to say that this was one of the more informative and helpful videos I have yet to see on KZbin about LrC, particularly its hidden editing "gems". Look forward to a long association with your videos and their superlatively presented, easy to understand, lessons. Cheers and regards, Fred Jansohn

Been subscribed to your channel for several years now, I'm a long time Lightroom user and you always seem to show me something new - thanks for your videos over the years.

This was a great Lightroom tutorial. Lightroom is so rich in features that it will take me forever to learn / remember them all. That's why I hate watching these video's on my lunch break. Your videos always make me want to rush home and play with these unknown to me features.

A particularly helpful video Anthony. Thank you. I am using the Adaptive profiles (for example) quite frequently but you showed how to fix snafus caused by the depth blur profile, which was really great

I've goofed around with those adaptive presets and had no idea I could modify them via mask panel - thank you!!

Indeed using Presets and Profiles can be editing time savers; yet curiously, Anthony Morganti's typical editing workflow avoids choosing Auto in the Develop module. Like Presets, that Auto is a time saver and its settings are ajustable.
@TheOlandex2 ай бұрын
Fair comment. I sometimes click auto just to get a look at how Adobe thinks the image should look, then I'll go Ctrl-Z to undo it and start from scratch. Or, if the auto result was pretty much where I wanted it to be, I just do small tweaks. I find this useful when editing a batch of images and I want to create a preset of my own. I spend the time getting it perfect on one image, create a preset and apply it to all, leaving me with just cropping and small adjustments. Saves tons of time and gets images delivered to clients more quickly.

I used to rely on auto all the time. I even applied it on import! I have found, however, that I really don’t like the look. It especially messes up skin tones on my Canon raw files, and I would spend more time fixing the “auto” settings than it takes me to just do it from scratch using Anthony’s approach.

In the profiles I have used Adobe Vivid from time to time for fall or other colorful scenes. Great video showing more options!

One of the greatest things about the adaptive presets is that they can be copied or synced across multiple images, and LrC will re-find the faces, sky, etc. Another cool thing is that in the mask panel, each will get its own slider for percent adjustments. I will sometimes go in and back the teeth whitening down.

I incorporate the adaptive presets in to all of my personal portrait presets, this enables me to select all photos in the shoot that are similar and apply my presets to all of them at once. This has cut my editing time in half easily, perhaps more on some shoots.

Thanks for the info Anthony. I will say that I had noticed in the past the various profiles do work differently from each other. As a result I actually use a workflow where I do my basic edits first, including vignetting if I want it, then I apply a profile after that and go back to tweak the edits. I'm not sure if that is how Adobe intended it or not, so I'll await your verdict once you've looked into it a bit more. It does seem a little counter-intuitive that applying a profile would restrict your access to editing tools, but maybe that's by design. Will be interested in the answer.

Great to see someone talking about profiles in LR. Regarding the clipping indicator bug: I wonder if that is a bug. I noticed that you were using modern 2 for that example. For modern 2, the profile seems to limit the whites so you are always NOT clipping. You kinda can see that in the histogram. There are several profiles that do that on the bright side or the dark side. To overcome that you can go to color grading and push the luminance of the highlights to brighter. But then you’re defeating the purpose of that particular profile so might as well pick a different profile.
@howardharrison34982 ай бұрын
I dunno about White Balance on your first example, the embracing couple. Their skin has a definite green cast, likely reflected off the surrounding foliage. Easily correctable with LRclassics' WB sliders.

In this tutorial you mentioned changing the profile to Adobe Color and them checking out the Profile Browser area. I seem to have everything but the Adobe Color? My Lightroom Classic only has Color and I am unable to locate Adobe Color. Thank you in advance for any suggestions on ways to locate the Adobe Color Profile.
@Mariner14602 ай бұрын
I get the Adobe and Camera profiles-I always use the Canon ones. But how do you decide when to use one of the “creative” profiles vs just using a similar preset? The nice thing with presets is that they reveal what they did. Profiles don’t
@love2cycle22 ай бұрын
I have the latest LR Classic and only have the blur background tool.
@MortAllachie2 ай бұрын
15:42 This is actually not a bug. If you take a look at the histogram, it’s not “letting” you clip the whites. You can do the same with curves i LR….

are there presets in LR , nice if you could address these comments to both versions LR classic and LR
