Once in a while I go to Harbor Freight and this is one of those moments. Was in need for a parts washer for a while now so pulled the trigger and picked one up. Harbor Freight 20 gallon parts washer with high flow pump SKU # 58679
This parts washer still needs to have a permeant spot in the shop but I'm going to have to move so stuff around first

Theo just from a fire fighting perspective, that lid is designed like that with that special strut to close automatically in the event of a fire. You know if you were to maybe put something flammable in it as a cleaner.

I wanted to use this for cleaning up all tools with stuff like evapo rust/wd40 etc.. and. be able to clean my oil based paint brushes with paint thinner etc.. Does that mean I can’t use this machine cause most of the stuff at work with is flammable?

I have a snap on tank , thankfully I bought it years ago when we used them a lot more..only occasional use these days couldn't justify the cost anymore..I use mineral spirits they work Great but expensive..back when it was cheap..never got to excited about washer solvents , but curious about the one you used water based ..nice moves on assembly 😉 my body won't go like that anymore..Thanks for showing Theo 👍

@@gilmansgarage6341 I'll have to look into the mineral spirits I think 10 gallon would be enough. It gets the grease, oil and dirt right off ? This stuff takes a little scrubbing to get it all clean

@@CountryMileGarage I think it works the best I have seen ..just like the companies use (Safety Clean) is one that used to come around monthly & service them for shops..house paint thinner it is 99 % mineral spirits but it's like 10- 15 $ a gallon used to be like 2$ back when..

Can you fit a piece of tubing over the drain plug to guide the cleaner into a separate bucket, when it has used up its life? Can you put a circle magnet around the drain cock to prevent grit and such from entering it when your changing the cleaning fluid? It doesn't look like it allows for the addition of feet to the legs, without a bit of fabrication...For a home owner/shade tree mechanic, it might work well. I wonder if a lid for a tote might not fit the top...doubt it would snap on though.

I'm going to set it close to a wall so the lid will stay up. For making it taller some 6x6 lumber ? But this is most defiantly NOT a pro setup lol ... first change I get to buy a real parts washer I'm going to but this beats working over a trash can. Thank you for watching

I don't like these kinds of parts washers, they all too low for me lol. I'd have to have it set up on a bench or extend the legs on one. Long long time ago in a galaxy far far away my dad cut the bottom out of and old 5 gallon metal Marvel Mystery oil container and made a parts cleaner out of. Been using that thing for all my life.
