His voice and mannerisms sell me the most. All of the Samurai's personalities so far has just been "Controlled, honorable" and "DIE." in Hito's case. THIS guy feels like that one anime archetype of the self absorbed, blood thirsty battle-obsessed bandit type, the guy who thinks he's hot shit, but is one of the few who can actually back it up because he is naturally talented at fighting. Looking forward to it!

This might be a stretch but benkei (the new hero inspiration) was called a demon in his youth as well as having the reputation of a troublemaker so you might be onto something. And I agree that as cool as the samurai are they get a bit repetitive in terms of personality, aramusha is probably the closest to the new hero personality wise.

So two things; first, his mask is damaged and he is missing an eye which might be because he has fought katashi and lost (like how benkei fought against his master), they could spin this in different ways, my personal theory is that sohei heard about katashi and went to challenge him becouse he wants to improve as a warrior, got beaten but impressed katashi and became friendly rivals. The second thing is about his voice, he sounds surprisingly young and the way he speaks, specially the last line, gives me punk/rebellious vibes and that might be because he's based on benkei's youth, after all benkei was called a demon in his younger years and had a reputation for being a troublemaker so he might act similar to aramusha and I kind of like this spin and not just copy one to one benkei. Definitely looking forward to wednesday.

This character isn't just based on Benkei - many of the more menacing mannerisms and dark elements are probably based on historical activities of the "Akuso" (roughly translated: bad monk) Sohei. So it does cover more than simply Benkei! ^^

for a two-handed flail we could have a Korean outlander hero with a pyeongon that is exactly a long two-handed flail, and with its head in the form of a pole and not a ball very similar to the "historically correct" european flail, differentiating it in a really cool way from the conqueror

I just can't wait for the head piece fashion. Much like BP, you can do so much with the Face Mask portion and have some cool designs for the cloth. It is perfectly possible for there to be helmets by themselves too with demon horns. He is huge so I am expecting some intimidatingly fashionable armor.

If I had to guess, this guy is gonna be a “snow-ball” character. Kindoff like the Eyelander from TF2. He starts out fairly mediocre-weak, but as you get kills he starts getting stronger. With Demo, he gets stacking buffs to his movement speed, health, and charge damage, with this guy, I’m thinking he’ll unlock new weapons which give him more moves and better combos. Have no idea who they would balance this for duels though. Edit: well that was a swing and a miss guess.

LET'S GOOO! WE FINALLY GOT THE SOHEI IN FOR HONOR! I also love how when he counts the weapons he collects he specifically uses the pronunciation of 4 and 7 that is associated with death. Instead of "Yon" for 4 he says "Shi" and instead of "Nana" for 7 he uses "Shichi, as in Japanese culture these are considered unlucky because the word "Shi" is also the Japanese word for death! Love that lil detail 😊
