Props to you Jesse, for rethinking your beliefs about what beginners need.

GenX Adult improver Waiting for my son to graduate high school this month before I join. But I have been implementing your program on my own. I have completed the first 800 puzzles in Laszlo Polgar Chess Mates. I am analyzing my tournament games. Both 90+30 and 45/d5. At my age I’ve already read many of the recommended books. Started US Chess August 2020 at age 47. Turning 50 this year. My rating plateaued in the 1500’s. Peaked at 1584; dropped to 1513. After unofficially employing elements of your program I finished in 2nd place yesterday Four Rounds 45/d5 OTB. 3 wins 1 loss. I beat an 1849, 1723 and 1588. Can’t wait to join. Just a little nervous of the time commitment.

It was smart to switch to faster time controls. It was also smart to allow students to log everything, because that's data and more data is always better. Some coaches recommend lower rated students not analyze games and just do tactics instead, and I wonder if in the future your data might say something about it. It would be fascinating to find out. The program is looking fantastic, well beyond what I imagined when it started. It's hard to wait for the day when I can profitably join.

Regarding the lenght of games; I (1700 elo) perform worse in full length FIDE games (100 min +30sec, additional 40/50 mins after move 40) than in 90 minute or 80min +10s games. Any ideas why? Smaller inaccuracies seem to be more punishing, consecutive minutes of bad concentration are more likely in the span of 4,5 than 2,5 hours? Any thoughts?

Most people would get tired after several hours of play. Perhaps you are having some mental fatigue?

I tried the Dojo, was immediately overwhelmed. Could not figure out the program, what to do, how to interact with others, as for Discord, forget it. Perhaps in this new version you could pair up new Dojo members with someone to show them the where and how of things? Thanks for reading . . . Rachel

Looks like I may have to rejoin the dojo. I have a demanding job with young kids at home and the time commitment wasn’t feasible with the requirement for long time controls.

Can confirm - dojo 2.0 is sick. Highly recommend to everyone looking to get serious and improve their chess.

The new dojo 2.0 looks great. I'll join most likely in a week or so after I've done my entrance exam and I'll have lots of free time in the summer

Can't even sign up to the website. Always tells me "Captcha is required to verify that you're a human." (it is solved correctly and displays this with a green checkmark). Update: was a VPN problem.

It's interesting you've relaxed the long time controls for lower rated
@ChessDojo Жыл бұрын
We've kept the same time controls as for 1.0, but added an additional requirement to play rapid games for those U1000. But the suggested time controls for the classical games are the same: U800: 30+15 | 800-1200: 45+15 | 1200-1600: 60+30 | 1600+: 90+30

How many hours per day is expected from the students on average?
@michaelf8221 Жыл бұрын
If you can't put in at 7 hours per week, you probably won't be able to improve much
@ChessDojo Жыл бұрын
The program is self-paced, however we suggest at least 1 hour a day for training
