Beautiful machine. Here's the problem - it's virtually worthless when it has 3,000 separator hours on it. That is a ton of depreciation and a huge cost per acre. If it does 25 acres per hour x 3,000 hours = 75,000 acres, that is over $10/acre in depreciation alone. Before financing cost, insurance, fuel, maintenance, operator, etc. The newer the equipment the more expensive it is to operate. Forget how many bushels/hour it does or all the features it has. A new machine like the X9 will depreciate at $500/hour the first few years and that is just the depreciation aspect of it. Instead of driving down farmer's costs, these new machines are driving up costs. The profit margin in grain farming is pretty slim. Smart farmers are buying pre owned equipment and keeping it running to lower their cost per acre.
@velimircuvrk16404 жыл бұрын
As a farmer a completely agree with You.
@timzakrisson13234 жыл бұрын
think of the compaction it does to the ground aswell, 16.2 ton in just grain tank capacity, if you compare machines from 1980 to 2020, the machines are getting way out of hand when it comes to size and weight, all that matters today is litres per minute when unloading, header size, how fast you can go and how much straw the combine can handle, no one thinks of compaction anymore it seems :/
@brucebaker35234 жыл бұрын
Pretty simple answer to that problem techguy Buy used or writeoff all that depreciation as a business expense if you have a serious operation and know a little accounting.
@SomeTechGuy6664 жыл бұрын
@@brucebaker3523 Everyone claims depreciation as an expense on their taxes. That is a no brainer. I guess the great thing about all this new equipment is that it will be great to purchase when used. As long as parts aren't too expensive to keep it running.
@LSC20014 жыл бұрын
This combine isn't for everyone. The s700 series is still plenty of combine for most farms. If your running multiple combines then you may be able to remove one combine if you use X9s. But for a 1 or 2 combine farm, deere has other options.

Speed??? Is it yielding 50 or a 100bu??? Have you ever ran a combine... As a farmer if you have to go slower means you're yielding more and making more money... The speed is also more dependent on the header cutting and feeding it properly, and not having header loss... Sickle bar cutters haven't really changed much for 40 years... Harvesting is done at 3-5 mph, you match the header with the combines capacity, not how fast you can go....
@7rixee4 жыл бұрын
@@paulpence8895 lol, does that look like 50 bu wheat to you? You dont think he figured all that in yet? Its only got a 40 footer at best, so you should be ramming that thing anyways.. The clip of the empty grain cart going flat out to keep up with the combine was just too cheesy..

Doubtful, we were john deere people our whole life until three years ago when we traded for agco tractors. I went to a demo at an all john deere farm with an S690 vs a claas 740. That's a class 9 vs a class 7. Claas would run 2 mph faster, less corn on the ground, cleaner corn in the tank. Using 30 percent less fuel per acre. $75,000 less to buy, better resale. I would not have believed the difference unless I saw it.
