0:42 It's not the first electric bus in Perth Mark, because of the electric RAC bus driverless bus that drives on the South Perth foreshore.
@TransportofPerth Жыл бұрын
There was also an electric bus already at the Airport years back. I mean the first Transperth electric bus.

Wow, it's so damn quiet! I can hear the obnoxious music played in the back of the bus a whole lot better now. /s I kid, This is awesome. Here's hoping the trial's successful and we see more electric buses pop up! They should roll out the kinda charging infrastructure they have in the Netherlands where an overhead caternary pops up at the station's terminus to give the bus a bit of a boost between major stops. The more EVs the better, i say!

Oh wow! That’s amazing! Since I live in the north west metro of Perth it’s more than likely I’ll catch that bus someday

Back then TP used to have an hybrid electric bus before this electric bus which is the Volvo B5RLEH TP2245 which used to operate CAT services, even an Hydrogen bus from Mercedes Benz which had its own registration which was ‘ECOBUS’, but they are both no longer operate in Perth ever since. So basically this is Perth’s first fully electric bus.

Yes I know all about that bus, it's weird they only acquired one and now its at some university? What was wrong with it?

Not the first time Perth had electric buses as Perth Airport used to have a BYD K9 running shuttles.
@TransportofPerth2 жыл бұрын
Ok I didn't know that but usually when I say this I mean Transperth buses, same with the "last old bus on Perth" videos.
@TransportofPerth2 жыл бұрын
@WA Transport Films It was the first electric bus Transperth ever had which is a pretty big thing. The other one was just running around the airport and it wasn't Transperth.

I'm glad you enjoyed riding the electric bus today they already run these buses in Melbourne and I really think that based on the visual performance the electrics are capable of running suburban routes just as long as the government invest in EV charging points at each bus interchange. I believe now is the time to start purchasing these buses even investing in articulated models as gas buses are scheduled to be decommissioned by 2025.

Nice to see 4000 is out now, and great that we can go on the Joondalup CATs on two public holidays a year. I took the opportunity as well and went out in the evening, but the Yellow CAT wasn't operated by the electric bus. :(

Where do they charge? 🤔 And do they mention anywhere how much they cost more or less than a regular bus?
@TransportofPerth2 жыл бұрын
They charge at the Joondalup depot with electricity from solar panels. Doesn't say anywhere how much they cost, but probably a few hundred thousand dollars, and a bit more than normal buses.
@Haveacry2 жыл бұрын
@@TransportofPerth why did you delete my previous reply? I was pointing out ABB provide the chargers for *overnight* charging, so was asking how do the solar panels charge them at night>?

@@TransportofPerth you posted above "they charge at the Joondalup depot with electricity from solar panels". But they charge overnight, so how do solar panels charge the buses at night when there is no solar?
