Scorps getting ballistics makes them a useable unit for any civ, which is great. The civs with scorp bonuses might have gotten overbuffed, but I see no problem with scorps being a power unit for some civs, in the same way every other unit gets to be a power unit for some civs.

Also scorpions are a gold unit, so it's great if they can dominate sometimes. They can always be countered by onager or hussars. The one OP comp could be scorpions + bbc + halbs with teutons or ethiopians. Other than that, they're just more efficient at what they already do. I'm more concerned about ballista elephants dominating everything if fully upgraded.

​@@ringofasho7721They dont. Mass Paladin melt even. My buddy and I have done Romans with Khmer ally a number of times and ballistics long ranged scorps are rough to stop. Only counter scorp mass is this large is landing SO or BBC shots. Not sure what you do if your civ doesn't have those options. Cry maybe.

I think instead of ballistics being in every civ they should give scorps the ability to manually fire in a specific direction, like how you can attack ground with Mangonels

Scorpions have always done that well. The only time ballistics made a big difference was in the last fight, but if you patrol in front of any ranged army, you're gonna get destroyed.. That said, it is definitely a buff for scorpions against fast units. They always struggled a bit against cav, but now they can hold their own quite well. This feels like a bigger buff to ballista elephants than scorpions though, since they struggled against cav even more due to lower damage. But now they no longer have to count on the splash half damage. Also I saw some people in chat not understand how double crossbow works. The second bolt has half damage, so while it's a great buff against low armor units, against high armor units it's just a bit more damage. The splash half damage of the 2nd projectile is pretty much always just 1. It's even weaker for ballista elephants. But still an amazing tech.

scorps' public enemy #1 has always been siege, rams, onagers and bombards eat them for breakfast, halbs in front could at least take care of incoming cav but its harder against siege so theyll always get destroyed by them. the thing is people never make/come across scorps and thus dont know how to properly counter them now so theyll claim theyre OP, however even with this giga buff, they still get absolutely shredded by every other siege in the game.

I've been playing around with this it's pretty great. I had a 4 vs 4 where I went scorpions as Bulgarians (everyone was random civ). I did a men-at-arms rush to take out one guy which worked pretty well but I was left with no anti archer units. Lets just say the CA and plumed archers had a bad time. I love this patch (pathing issues excluded).

PLease Hera, don't push too much against ballistic for scorps... A balance tweak is necessary, but at least propose change others areas like cost, base damage, etc. It was really frustrating play scorps before this patch. Now is fun.
