Well the A380-1000 has now an engine for the future

@@edwardwilcox6606 no offense, but are you high... The problem is far from over. Just ask Air Tanzania, and Air New Zealand how their replacement engines are coming along..7 months and counting for Air Tanzania, and still waiting for replacement Trent engines for their 787's . Add to the fact Air New Zealand had to cancel their Auckland-Chicago route due to inefficiency issues with the Trent 1000. Evidently they've had enough of Rolls Royce, all future 787's will be GE powered!! Other customers making the switch are ANA, LAN Airlines, and Thai Airways as well all switching to GE engines on their future dreamliner fleet.. You say all is well with that engine. Please, would you just do more research, instead of spewing out rubbish in your comments..

Nothing revolutionary about it.. Composite Fan blades have been in use over 30 years, same as geared turbofans, Garrett has used that technology since the early 70's..!!!

To fit a Ultrafan on a A350 will require redesign of the undercarriage. The fan is 22 inches more that the Trent XWB. That is half a metre. It is however only 6 inches more than GE engines on the 777X. Airbus will be mindful of the aerodynamic problems with the 737Max when Boeing tried to shoehorn a larger diameter engine under the wing of plane not designed for it. An Ultrafan A350 will be as different from the A350 as the 777X is from the classic 777.

that 6'' is quite a lot in circumference and sheer bulk........... but the engine is slightly less powerful, not sure what this means

No new technology here, GE have a composite fan and Pratt and Whitney have geared fan both in service now. RR have put the 2 together. Why hasn't GE or P&W? No manufacturer has or is planning a new aircraft.
@nathd17488 ай бұрын
RR are not bothered about new aircraft. They are building scaled models of that Ultrafan to offer as a 3rd option on the A320neo series. There's a 12 year backlog for those planes.
