I've been using LTX's on my Land Rovers for many years, and if you only look at the price point they appear to be expensive. A set of tires will last 2x to 3x longer than the comparable Goodyear's, Firestone's, Continental's, Geolander's, WHY. I've driven many miles from hot, highway conditions to snow covered forest service roads, and never had a moment when I even questioned my tire choice. They perform better than the tread pattern would suggest off road, IMO, they're well worth the money.

I put these on my 2019 Tacoma TRD Off Road a few months ago...I own a horse farm and use my 4WD around the property a lot..these tires look like a highway tire but I am SHOCKED how well these tires do!!! I put about 40-50K miles a year on my truck...so I go through a LOT of tires...I used the GY Kevlar tires (stock) for the past 2 sets on my truck and these LTX M/S ride much better in the snow, rain and off road!! A buddy of mine had a set of these on his truck. When I tell you I’ve never been more impressed with a tire… I mean it. He drove through a alley in 2-3 feet of snow with these things, they didn’t even flinch. He drives daily on gravel roads too, it’s just the cost that holds me back as well as the plain sidewall look but they do stay nice as black.

I have just put this new version on my 2014 4runner trail. I got a little over 50k miles on the old version of the michelin ltx m/s2 tires and I absolutely love them. Smooth, quiet and great winter traction. The newer version feels a bit harder...idk maybe cuz their still new and the sidewall seems a tad stiffer? Seems like it helps a bit more in handling? I've had slight dry rot problems on older version Ltx michelins in the past. I hope the newer compound fixed this. Michelin arguably imo one of the overall best tires on the road. Every time I switched to something else, things went bad, and I had to go back to Discount Tire and have LTX M/S put back on. While using them I have never had a reason to think, gee if I only had some better tires on here. All the off-roading I have done they worked fine and were not the limiting factor in my ability to get in or out a place. My wife's Honda Pilot needed a new set of LTXs and I let someone convince me a different tire would be better for her Pilot. She doesn't know anything about tires or cars but the next day she didn't even know I put new tires on, but she did say "What the hell did I do to my Honda! it doesn't drive right" I said I put better tires on. She told me to put it back the way it was. So I did and now she says I don't know anything, but I know what tires my Honda needs.

From the factory tires ( Goodyear Wrangler A/T) to these Michelin - Defender LTX M/S is a huge upgrade. I must have 1 million miles of driving (no joke) & for the 1st time ever in my life suddenly a completely loss of traction with the oem Goodyear Wrangler A/T W/30k on them. a spun it 3 times on the semi-wet highway. going 70mph slight bend- right turn. Thank god for T/CNTRL. These LTX M/S have a lot more grip (softer) and zero noise, last forever. Now they have about 66K miles on them. All had about 3 tire plugs in them & they are still holding construction without falling apart. My 2017 Taco TRD Off-Road 4x4 I do some off-road but most highway use. No joke 70K miles not a problem with constant tire pressure & rotation. More money but worth the extended miles you can drive before new purchase.

Agree! Wondering what is great for the Jeep Grand Cherokee, too? I drive a lot local, quite a bit of highway and long road trips a few times a year. Not very much off roading but love the idea. I may tow a boat in the near future too. I’m deciding between this tire or the Continental Cross Contact A/T. Thoughts on the two?

@@Johnmkd what did you end up getting? I am in the same boat with my 2018 grand cherokee limited. Really leaning towards these tires but would love to hear opinions. My stock michelin premier ltx tires wore out around 40k miles, so am a bit concerned about that these

So did you end up getting them? How have they been?
@Artamon83712 жыл бұрын
@@danielsoutdoors Yes, I did end up getting them Last February. They are fantastic tires and I don't regret my purchase at all. Great grip in all conditions. I haven't really taken the Jeep offroading or through mud so I don't have any feedback there. Snow/rain is fantastic. Overall, very happy with my purchase and would recommend.

@@Artamon8371 Thanks. I’ll probably go ahead and get them for my Jeep GC.

Update: Just installed a set two weeks ago on my 18 Titan. These are the beat tires I’ve ever had on a vehicle. They are as quiet as a cats paws on the road. In the rain there was no tire spin from starting from a stop! Highly impressed! Buy these tires !

Id like to see a video on michelins agilis cross climate for passenger and LT's. As well as your opinion on which would be better for a heavy duty truck 2500/3500, agilis or defender, for part time towing.
@lemoncide3 жыл бұрын
The Cross Climate product line is designed with snow performance in mind. If you're in a climate where that's a serious issue, those will be the higher value option for you. But you do lose out on treadwear. Non-LT CC tires are consistently 600 treadwear rated vs 800 for the Defender LTX. So any CC tire will give you 3/4 of the treadlife of a Defender LTX. LT tires don't have posted treadwear ratings due to use case, but in my experience they perform as well as their non-LT counterparts assuming you're not pushing the boundaries of your truck's GVWR on the daily. In terms of comfort, I haven't had any complaints after putting CCs on customer vehicles. Tire Rack's testing falls right in line with that experience. The main tradeoff I see is life span vs snow performance.

I think the Defender LTX would be a better choice.

I’ve considered the michelin defender LTX but do these tires have a problem with dry rot
@CampusautoCo3 жыл бұрын
Not if you drive them every day. They have to be driven and the compound keeps itself from drying out.

Have these on a Tacoma and a RAV4. Can’t beat the treadwear or the traction in ice, rain, and snow for a highway tread. A little more up front but great price per mile like you said.

Found your channel recently .. really informative. Do you have a suggestion for a 2012 Jeep Wrangler, mostly highway driving. Currently have Cooper Discover AT3 that need to be replaced. Was looking at Cooper again but saw your review on General…. Not sure I need the AT3, but it does have a nice look as compared to this Michelin Defender LTX. Thanks.. need some tires soon for our Subaru Outback also, will be reviewing your content…
